He lacks the physical side of the game, far too easily knocked off the ball, but there's a player in there.

It's a comparison of situation not of ability.
He's 18 years old, why are we rushing him into playing a lot of games so early in his career? He's played more 1st team football than Miley btw and is a year younger. Of course he can get better by training and occasionally playing alongside much better players. Improve as a player and a professional. No offence mate but I'm not overly convinced you know much about football/player developmentDo you honestly see any improvement in Rigg? He hasn’t improved at all lets be honest now. He had a poor second half of last season and the games he’s played this
Season he’s been miles off it. He barely got a game when the 6 lads were at Afcon. He isn’t going to play much here i can’t fathom that fans actually believe him sitting about training everyday is actually a good thing. He isn’t going to improve as a footballer by training, You only improve by playing real games. He isn’t going to be any better come next season For training alongside Xhaka and CoGo out and play games man it’s what football development is about
You're comparing ability again.Rigg is a good young footballer, but he's no generational talent, and I think a few have gotten carried away. He's got a hell of a long way to go yet.
I think someone like Biily Gilmour who started young at Chelsea is a better case than Foden. He's had to go out and play football and has now a steady career after, being at a number of clubs.
Rigg is already on the path of competitive senior football, and he needs a shit load more of it for him to prprogress. Anything else is holding the lad back (in my opinion anyway).
Yes, exactly. The lad is 18 and has played over 8- first team games, including 10 appearances at Premier League level. He is undergoing a bit of a plateau in his development which is probabaly the norm. He is struggling physically but also, for the first time, with confidence. I saw him on Wednesday v Dortmund and it felt like he was trying too hard. He will come again and I think by the time he is 20 he will comfortably be a quality Premier League player. He's 18 years old, why are we rushing him into playing a lot of games so early in his career? Well we certainly don't want him going down the Billy Gilmour route. Four clubs by the time he's 24.
No you don't. Very evidentlyYou just don’t get it do you
Never known anyone think a footballer is going to improve with not playing games. Its like having a Boxer sparring top boxers week in week out but never having a fight in a real situation. I can’t see Chris Rigg starting another game this season unless we have a injury crisis. You telling me this season so far has been good for his development? If so then how come every time he’s played this season he’s been miles off it?? His development has gone backwards it’s pretty easy to seeNo you don't. Very evidently
It's weird this obsession with thinking sending him out on loan is the best way to develop him. It's almost like we can't hereYes, exactly. I understand the thinking about him staying and training, then getting some minutes here and there for us but I think a loan where he only plays CM would be massively beneficial for him. I think it was a little concerning that he dropped down to the u21s and still didn't play in his natural position, even when Harrison Jones went off they preferred to play Jenson Jones - a full back - in midfield over Rigg. It's weird this obsession with thinking sending him out on loan is the best way to develop him. See you clearly "don't get it". He's 18 years old, still a boy. He's got years and years of learning and development ahead of him . We won't know how this season has been for his development straight away. In fact we might not see significant development for a couple of years. Hence the comparison with Fodens situation.Never known anyone think a footballer is going to improve with not playing games. So what level do we send him to? I'm not overly convinced he'd be a success playing CM in the championshipI understand the thinking about him staying and training, then getting some minutes here and there for us but I think a loan where he only plays CM would be massively beneficial for him. He'd have no shortage of offers from the Championship, he's played there before but not in central midfield. He desperately needs minutes there IMO and there's just no circumstance where he'd get minutes in CM for us.See you clearly "don't get it". He's 18 years old, still a boy. You don't agree with me and that's fine but let's be honest given this debate I'm fairly confident I'm less of a gobshite, still a gobshite though, than you on player development.
So what level do we send him to? I'm not overly convinced he'd be a success playing CM in the championship
Disagree, I think sending him to play where he's physically lacking will do him no good at all. He'd have no shortage of offers from the Championship, he's played there before but not in central midfield. He desperately needs minutes there IMO and there's just no circumstance where he'd get minutes in CM for us.
Agree.This place is “loan” crazy.
If you ain’t in the first 11….send ‘em out on loan.
Just ridiculous.
That itself would be a good learning curve for him. Let him replace Bannan at Sheff Wed, get some minutes under his belt in his actual position and he'll be all the better for it.Disagree, I think sending him to play where he's physically lacking will do him no good at all.
Couldn't disagree more tbh. You want loans to be successful for the player. I think sending him to be physically not up to it in CM does him no good at all. That itself would be a good learning curve for him. Let him replace Bannan at Sheff Wed, get some minutes under his belt in his actual position and he'll be all the better for it.
You making it sound like he’s fresh out the academy and first team football is all new to him he’s played over 75 games man. Sitting about training daily and not playing football isn’t good for development we both no that but your to stubborn to admit it.See you clearly "don't get it". He's 18 years old, still a boy. You're bang on with Gilmour, he has struggled to develop compared his obvious talent due to his physical drawbacks and competition. Rigg could well find himself on the wrong end of a similar unlucky situation.Rigg is a good young footballer, but he's no generational talent, and I think a few have gotten carried away. He's got a hell of a long way to go yet.

I agree, not good enough now, might be but might not, go and play matches and get more experienceDo you honestly see any improvement in Rigg? He hasn’t improved at all lets be honest now. He had a poor second half of last season and the games he’s played this

And you're clearly forgetting he's only 18 years old. He's still a boy. You think he's gone backwards and there isn't a single acknowledgement that the standard he's playing at is significantly better now. StubbornYou making it sound like he’s fresh out the academy and first team football is all new to him he’s played over 75 games man. Phil Foden situation is a ridiculous
comparison. Phil Foden at that time could of walked into more or less every premiership side and like i said earlier he still played over 25 games at 18 year old for a world class City side, Rigg on the other hand isn’t playing football at all and when he makes the odd appearance whether that be for first team or the u21 team he looks miles off it so why is that the case? How come all this development training that you clearly think is good for him then why is it he’s gone backwards?
Get him in the championship playing weekly in his preferred position and get more games under his belt out of his comfort zone. Look at the Centre half at City. Been on loan at Watford first half of the season and Pep has openly came out saying the improvement he has made is night and day and the confidence levels are completely different to what he was in pre season
He's 18 years old FFSI agree, not good enough now, might be but might not, go and play matches and get more experience
Jobe Bellingham was a boy he came and played virtually everygame for us. Harvey Elliott went to Blackburn as a 17 year old and played over 40 games. Marc Guehi went to Swansea as a 19 year old played 50 games. There is so many examples. If Rigg was playing more games and getting more minutes and making a impact of course keep him around but there is absolutely no doubt his development has stagnated and it won’t get better without gamesAnd you're clearly forgetting he's only 18 years old. He's still a boy. You think he's gone backwards and there isn't a single acknowledgement that the standard he's playing at is significantly better now. Stubbornare you taking the piss? If I'm stubborn then you're ignorant to that fact.
You're comparing ability with Foden AGAIN. There were calls for him to be loaned to get more games, Man City resisted. They let him develop under their guidance. That's the situation. That's what I compared. You didn't get it.
Just a reminder he's only 18 years old. Still a boy. Seems irrelevant to you.
He's 18 years old FFSit's absolutely mental this, do we send all of our young players out on loan?
