Chris Rigg

He's struggling probably because he is growing and at the same time the club have him on a high intensity bulking up regime, which will impact his nimbleness and technical ability on the ball. I agree he needs a loan though.
Very true . People dont factor in that if were physically building him hes playing with a new body thats a different size, weight and centre of balance & he has to get used to being in it. If hes still growing ( or has done recently ) hes even playing with legs that are a bit longer ( spoiling touch ) If he's bulking they wont be running him as much so he might look a bit leggy . All kinds of physical change going off for him and he might be a bit clumsy for a bit , those of us who have had teenage lads will know they go through a oeriod where they pull drawers off runners, kick stuff over and slam doors cos they misjudge. PL football is even finer margins and im sure it will frustrate him .
I disagree with the loan though , he needs to be here with our sports science.

Not sure why a loan is so ridiculous. People wanting him to stay and train/sit on the bench, hoping he will absorb Xhaka's abilities through watching him forget that at the same age Xhaka was playing 20+ games a season for a first team.

You only improve so much from training, he needs to be playing games and he looked rusty as anything for the u21s last night.

Get him out there
Football has changed since Xhaka's youth. Players are honed and protected for longer, coming to maturity later. 21-22 is when a lot of them start kicking on as first team regulars, unless they are prodigies.

Our coaches working with Rigg know what's best for him. I think he should focus on bulking up before going out on loan, he might not even have to once he does, he may be able to handle the premier league. A loan can actually stall a young players development.

yer overthinking it mate !and your exaggerating stuff (im sure there is a fiction book in you somewhere) ;) ..i might agree with you if he was 13 and grew 6 inches in a year but he isnt and i doubt his centre of gravity, balance and proprioception is effected in the exaggerated way you describe!Rigg has a genetic advantage over most of us and you make him sound like bambi on ice or pipi longstocking ! its a fiction mate based on a ridiculous stereotype!

It isn't. Males tend to grow fastest around 16, after that it may take as long as up to 20 for the brain to totally recalibrate. Rigg appears to be a late developer, as he has clearly grown a lot over the past twelve months we can probably expect to see his brain recalibrate over the next two years.

  • End of Growth: Most boys stop growing in height by age 16, though muscle development and neural recalibration continue until roughly age 20.

That maybe but the cartoon version of how it will effect Rigg is a load on nonsense!

Fine margins in contact sport in the best league in the world mate , but you know best 👍🏻

The person exaggerating was the one who brought up Bambi and Pippi Longstocking, surely? The other poster was talking about growth and how it affects balance and centre of gravity, which it does. The club will 100% be monitoring his growth and how they can work with it to improve speed/balance etc. It's elite sport and those fine margins count

I remember Lee Johnson ( i knar ) saying the same about altering Ross Stewarts centre of gravity to enable him to hold himself to get quicker shots off . Not rocket science that changing a body affects performance and its not linear progress

Yes it was when we signed him to improve his ability to shift and get shots away quickly

He is a young lad around a good squad of players and will be learning every day. Hopefully we can get him in the gym and build him up a bit

Still think there is a class player in there and he is only 18 man

What are you even talking about?
No emojis please. Those are for the kids to muck around with.
People making note of Rigg and his physicality I would add in it isn’t all just about that although it is a plus to have it. Technique and skills are just as important. Fernandez at man up for example is canny and he’s not built particularly robustly. That little lad Croatian who was at Real Madrid was canny as well.

Fair enough comments I would add that when they grow up your ability can change for the good or slip and if I am predicting not sure the lad will step up be a very good player in the PL a loan is a very good choice for me.
