I don't mind saying what a few have avoided saying, it is only ever black players on here that get labelled lazy, so one may deduce that it is a either sub-conscious bias thing, or just the person saying it is a racist kernt.
Mayenda, Brobbey and Isador have all been labelled lazy on this board this season
Sorry but I'm sure Tommy Miller wasn't black, the laziest player I've witnessed playing for us

In 2020, we conducted a study in conjunction with RunRepeat to explore racial bias within football commentary. The study aimed to definitively understand if players’ skin tones influenced the way commentators spoke about them.
RunRepeat reviewed 80 games from the 2019/20 season across four of Europe’s top leagues:

English Premier League
Italian Serie A
Spanish La Liga
French Ligue 1

The study analysed 2,074 statements across these matches from commentators speaking in English and working for UK, US and Canadian media outlets, where they discussed 643 unique players of various skin tones.

The findings showed bias from commentators who praised players with lighter skin tones as more intelligent, higher quality and harder working than players with darker skin tones.

Players with darker skin tones were significantly more likely to be reduced to their physical characteristics or athletic abilities – namely pace and power – than those with lighter skin tones.
Really interesting that. Might align with what @houghton cut head was saying

I thought so. You need the data or people get defensive-agro and take suggestions like this as a personal attack. I think people ought to be aware that there's no shame in unconscious bias, it just -is- the case.

One of the main examples I remember from the full study is 'beast', which people will use (to some degree quite fairly) all the time about Brobbey. Think of five players you'd consider a 'beast' of a player.

Was
Haaland
one? Probably not, despite fitting 'the description'. Not for me at least, and it's likely because I have unconscious bias.

Might have something to do with brobbey being a big strong fucker like, I think people would be using that term if he was white green or pink like. I get what you’re saying and the term is unconscious but I really think people look for things when there’s often nowt there.

Aye but there are quite a few white players that are big strong fuckers and their main label is never beast, that's the point. Supported by data - it is know to be there.

You bluegreyist fuck, leave the little big bastard alone

No-one's saying white players are never lazy, or never get called lazy. The data suggests to a statistically significant degree that there is a solid lean in a racially-bias direction.
Get a grip mate

Jon 'The Beast' Parkin agrees with me
I've got full grip; I understand the point that's being discussed, yous just have a wet clammy grasp at the subject.

I’m not denying it’s there with some but I also know it’s not there with me and a lot of people. Haha he has a white star on his chest so he’s a right multi cultural dog 🤣

This is partly what I mentioned though, people get instantly agro-defensive. No-one's saying you in particular is a massive racist cos you've been bullying a puppy, but by the same token it's not completely insane to suggest that some within the 40k SOL crowd aren't more angelic than professional footy commentators.
@Mackemansj1 Thread has probably run its course so can we get a pic of your dog? Sounds class.

What about Jon ‘The Beast’ Parkin? Was he a beast?

Do you not think it’s more related to positions and the flair players of which a high percentage have been black lads get the lazy moniker.

I’d be interested to to know which black defenders who you have heard called lazy, from Nordi, to Monday, to Benno, I can’t recall any of them being called lazy.
