Abdoullah Ba

The issue with the likes of Ba, Poveda is their wages will have gone up with promotion, two promotions since Ba signed and they’ll be on decent money that the teams who would be targeting them can’t afford to pay that wage so they’ll sit still until the club either contribute or they run the contract down, depends on how much they want to risk their career sitting rotting away rather than going out to play football rather than thinking money
Ba signed in the championship under Mowbray. He won’t be on big wages and if a loan came up for him we would of probably covered a percentage of his wages. It’s a strange one he’s either refused to move and happy to sit or literally nobody has came in for him which is a suprise because he definitely showed glimpses at times

I remember being at Norwich away and Ba was playing on his own up front due to our lack of strikers. He scored, we won 1-0 and he was MOTM. He was so full of effort and was really impressive. Since then his career has fallen apart. I am not saying he is Premier League standard but he showed he could be decent at Champo level. Hard to understand why it has gone so badly.

Like quite a few players we signed at that time, he was quite good at a lot of things but not really good enough at anything.

We tried him in midfield but he was too lightweight.

We tried him on the right wing but his delivery into the box was so poor he tended to just do lots of stepovers then pass backwards.

We tried him on the left wing for him to cut inside but he was too predictable as he was never ever going to go to the byline or mix it up.

We tried him as an attacking midfield 10 but he wasn't creative enough and lacked any spark in the final third.

He was just quite athletic without really influencing games. I'm not sure he really had the attributes to succeed at any level in this country - he wasn't technicality good enough for the Championship and he wouldn't be physically up to League One or Two. Doesn't look like he did anything in the French second division either.

He did similar when we beat Watford i think it was at home he played upfront and scored. We beat Cardiff away 2-0 think it was good friday he had a brilliant game thay day aswell. He had his flaws but he definitely showed potential

I don't think we can loan anymore players out.
Think the limit on loans players abroad is 6 or 7 and we at our limit but domestically as many as you want. Sure Rusyn is in talks with a permanent move away aswell so that maybe frees up a loan spot internationally

Strange situation with this lad he has basically sat out for 18 months of his career.
He had his flaws and was abit rash and raw but i definitely think he had potential and alot of good attributes.

Was a time a couple seasons ago he was keeping Roberts out of the team he started in the 5-0 Southampton game and if im not wrong we beat Stoke and Blackburn 3-1 in the games after and Ba started in all them. Definitely think a lower end championship team or at least a high end league one team would of took a punt on him but it’s strange he’s been happy to just sit and train on his own and pick up a wage instead of trying to progress his career
He's probably on a decent contract he can't get elsewhere but I agree he can definitely do a job in the championship imo

Can still remember that open goal he smashed over the bar against Coventry when the keeper was on the floor and the Boro miss when it was easier to score.

Problem was he was never winger but was played there loan him out let him play centrally it’s not worth selling him for what we would get atm he might get better with age

When did this happen, has it always been the case? Was this to stop Chelsea loaning out 300 players a season?
