Luke O'Nien

Was it Flanaghan who slated him, and possibly McGeady.

Maybe comes across as a bit of a teachers pet but probably a joy to manager over those two.

Tom should maybe have took note n he wouldnt be at L2 Colchester.

Not saying he isn’t a good lad in anyway.

I just think he knows what to say and how to act to get the likes on social media.

We had technically more complete players last time we were in the prem, possibly even when we first went down. But so many of them had an attitude that stank the place out. I'd rather have one Luke than a dozen Ndongs. He doesn't need to play to be an exceptional ambassador for the club and inspiration for youngsters.

We're lucky to have him.

He’ll get games here and there and would probably have had more minutes while AFOC was on and Ballard was out if it wasn’t for the 3 match ban

Luke loves the club and the area. His family are settled here and he seems like the kind of lad that considers everything so can’t see him unsettling his family for the sake of a few extra minutes on the pitch

As has been said he’s 31 and probably turning his mind to the next stage of his career. The favs and the club would probably like that to be with us and I’m sure he would too

09 played well yesterday, no one could complain about that performance.

But let’s not get carried away:
1) It was a second string Everton team. Eight changes.
2) His last ‘Premier game’ lasted less than five minutes.
3) He’s not as good as Ballard, Alderete, Mukiele, Geertruide. So is essentially fifth choice.
4) If he’s Premier level then why aren’t Premier teams in for him?

He’s a decent Championship player, that’s his level, better than most of us could dream of.

His value at Sunderland lies off the field. His personality, heart and enthusiasm.

He has a choice to make on whether he wants to play every week at a lower level, stay and be content with a squad place or possible coaching role.

Whatever he decides, I wish him continued success.

he's came on 3 times in premier league and probably that would be 4 or 5 had he not been suspended

the lad constantly improves and constantly proves people wrong. theres nothing to suggest he couldn't be become a very valuable premier league quality squad player for us for the rest of this season and next season.

he may be happy to make 20 sub appearances over the season and start the odd cup game, given how happy he is with the club and city

I think his performance at Everton will probably earn him some more minutes as well. RLB even said after the game how well luke had played in particular

O'Nien will be here as long as the club still want him here imo

As well as he played it's really difficult to judge him properly when up against Beto, who lets be honest is fkn dog shit.

Still is and always had been one of the most consistent players we have.

Performance in that game definitely moved the needle
one of his best games for us
Showed a different level of maturity and control that people said he wouldn't have at this level and would get murdered
I think the sending off v City was that lightbulb moment for him

It's still hard to judge on that Everton game. That forward line of theirs wasn't a good PL standard forward line. The complete opposite in fact.
He still played well mind
