Thoughts on Everton's new ground?

I’m surprised people struggled getting out. I seemed to get a really easy get away and then didn’t really hit any traffic

I thought the outside was great - love the plaza behind the dock wall with all the food outlets. Inside the concourse it felt unfinished. Plenty of space but not enough toilets or places to get food and drink.

Inside the bowl I thought it was a bit bland to be honest. Roof is too high and there is no personalisation to the stadium, not even a pattern in the seats. It literally could be any team in blue’s stadium, anywhere in the world. Atmosphere was crap, home and away, and my ears are still ringing from that shite played over the PA system turned up to 11 (same as at Spurs) which kills any pre-match atmosphere.

I liked the build up to Z Cars, thought that was good and would look better in the dark I suppose.

However, have to say that they've moved into a brand new state of the art stadium but still brought the old CD from Goodison, their playlist could do with a bit of a refresh.

Getting to the ground was ok, we got the bus. Approach to the ground looked incredible imo. Outside but was class as others have said, it’ll only get better when they build it up a bit too with pubs etc.

The away end felt half finished I think? There walls were properly finished in parts and the filing looked half done. Felt like they might have rushed to get it done for the season and might go and properly finish it over the summer - might be wrong tho.

The stadium itself pitch side looked unreal, like a Bundesliga ground. The acoustics when Everton scored were proper loud, so assume it could be rocking - obviously today it was f***ing silent for 99% of the time though.

It was ok getting a beer, but the toilet situation was a joke as others have said.

Getting away afterwards was a nightmare for us though. They need to sort that.

Overall facility wise it’s probably up there, and they’ll no doubt love it over time (it’s certainly not gonna be the new West Ham for that!) but as an away fan it’s no Goodison.

Explain to me what you mean by ‘looked unreal, like a bundesliga ground’

I liked the walk up and the outside looked amazing on the walk up.

I was row 62 so was a canny walk back but the room we had was class loads of space to stand and watch the game.

Toilets were a bit crap getting in and out.

Typical modern ground for me.

I like Everton as a club and have always had a soft spot for them but here’s an honest opinion from today for me and the bairn.

Inside the bowl the stadium is class, but unfortunately that’s where it ends.
It’s in the middle of nowhere with absolutley nowt around it. Everyone has to walk for miles and there’s basically 1 way in and out so it takes hours to get away.

Getting a drink or gannin to the bog is a nightmare. For a new stadium it’s really really poor.

It feels a bit soulless compared to goodison which is really disappointing.

There were a lot of people in our away support who are not normally there so I don’t think our support was as good as it usually is also.
On the positive side i thought when they had something to shout about their crowd noise swelled well . Easy to get in , turnstiles good , tickets scanned first time , concourse shit . As everyone has said , no bogs , they must think that as theres no boozers about no one will need a pi*s

On TV, that was their playlist at half and full time was from any stadium ever. The sound of it certainly carried to the telly. Drek old songs, sentimental shite. Apart from Z cars, that's been their song for decades so I'll give them that one.
I agree mate, their song choices are awful, they're of a time and no longer relevant imo. Fair enough play one, but it was pretty much all of them, like a 1960s/70s playlist.

They have school of science flashing up on the screen regularly as well and the people's club, what the?

The bowl/ inside of the stadium looks like grounds you get in Germany, which I think is mint. The steepness of the sides I suppose.

Hope that helps!
Exactly what I thought. Loved it.

Think we’ve got a bit of a cheek mentioning the atmosphere for an early round cup match though. Stoke at home last year is a prime example.

Good atmosphere outside as well with the street food and tunes on. Had a good crack on with some Everton fans before and after, good lads.

Aye the ones I met were class like. Wishing us well for the cup run etc.

Game didn’t give anyone much to shout about either, was incredibly scrappy. Just glad to get through.

Stadium is very nice......but there's nowt around it, pubs, shops etc obviously the location is the problem, but also not enough bars/kiosks inside. Bogs were massive but no hand dryers. Meh

They’re very much trying to tap into a nostalgia thing to connect with the new ground. I had to look up the school of science thing - it was their nickname in the 1920s! It’s like us playing on the Bank of England club nickname!
