Eddie Howe

I don't think Chelsea will appoint properly until the summer. Rosenior heavily linked & strikes me as someone who will mind the ship for a few months without any expectations to achieve anything extraordinary, and be handsomely rewarded for a short-term gig that gets PL experience on his CV.

Pains me to say it but he is a quality manager. His shortcomings have been demanding too much of a say over transfers which he won’t get at Chelsea. He’s would walk into an amazing squad (which the mags don’t have) where he could pick and choose who he wanted in his 25.

Is he “Elite”? Probably not, but for a couple of years he would develop their younger players, consistently get them into the champions league, and maybe win a cup or two.

I find it genuinely hilarious that the mags think he is the limiting factor rather than their basket case ownership’s running of the club!
He isn’t quality like. He has one way of playing football and when that doesn’t work there is nothing. I’d say he suits his name, he’s a steady Eddie. The problem is with that there’s only one way your career trajectory goes and that’s downwards when you get found out. It’s gone stale for him.

Howe has done a great couple of jobs, but I agree he doesn’t look like be can be an elite manager at the very top end of the PL. Possibly an England manager after Tuchel he seems to fit the FA profile.

I always say, dread the thought of what would’ve happened if emery took the job.
That’s the point though. He looked around and seen it was a pigsty with no direction. They won’t get an elite manager because it’s not an elite setup. They’re in the same mess as Man Utd but without the legacy

Yeah I’d tend to agree with that actually. They appear to have the same scattergun approach as Man Utd to transfers. Just spending big money to appease the fans. I argued with a mag yesterday when he said they should spend £50m on Bowen from West Ham, that that was a crazy amount, and they basically said that’s what you’ve gotta pay for top level players, it’s the going rate. And that’s what they’ve somehow got into their heads, that they’re shopping in the same place as city and Chelsea. It works for them, but it doesn’t work for the mags.

I hate Eddie Howe and can’t stand his face, his voice, I can’t bear to see him on my tv screen. But he’s not a good manager, and I’m amazed the mags are happy for him to be their manager, with their levels of delusion about where they should be. And the longer he’s their manager the better in my opinion.
He sort of reminds me of that fat kid off Grange Hill what's his name 🤔??

As much as I can't stand the bloke, he should be the next England manager

Newcastle must be getting itchy trigger fingers with their Saudi riches. They'll get an upgrade eventually.

Howe edges Potter for me. When it comes to English managers, there's no one else if we're being honest.
Whee cares?

Imagine that man. It would be an absolute disgrace. I’d be fuming if we spent 50m on a player like that. It’s a complete waste of money and showing no imagination. They need a complete change of attitude from the top down because they’ve been overtaken and will be by more and more sides. They look shot to bits to me

Delusion aside, the best they can hope for is a Thomas Frank or similar manager. Failing that a fading superstar (they loved Rafa) like Mourinho.

Their squad is aging and weak once you get past the first XI, and their wider setup is sub-standard so I struggle to see how they are going to attract anyone “Elite”!

Yet it’s exactly the kind of signing they would make.
