Well Roefs is a much better keeper if were are honest. I know the goalkeeping coach came from Wolves with an excellent reputation.

One of so many sliding doors moments over the summer where I reckon we'd got the better timeline.
Roefs over Petrovic, Brobbey over Guiu, Toure over the lad from Italy, and probably loads of others. Coin lands slightly differently on a few of those and whilst we'd still be having a good season, I wonder if we'd be where we are right now

We've had a few strokes of luck this season where what has widely reported to be a first choice target has ended up elsewhere and we've ended up with a much better alternative mind

I referenced luck a few weeks back and general response was luck plays no part/you make your own luck etc, or pointed to Diarra injury, AFCON etc as bad luck.
That's really fair, but I do still think there's a small pinch of luck in our summer transfers in that all (even Masuaku) have worked out to varying degrees with most brilliantly, or at least none have been a gamble too far which is almost inevitable for that much transfer activity.
We've outperformed our xTS (expected transfer success) you could say... (if you wanted to be ripped apart here)

There's definitely a bit of luck involved, as well as hard work, to get those personalities to gel so well and quickly.

Certainly the club tried to get Bulka and Petrovic. It worked out that we ended up with Roefs
As has been posted above. There is obviously an element of luck to all sport. We’ve signed great personalities and specific skill sets, and the theory was there, but you never know things will work in practice and it does require some fortune

There could be any number of factors that make a transfer a success or failure to be fair. There's nothing to say that diakite for example would have been so poor for us alongside different players. Definitely feels like a relief to have missed out on them all though up to this point. Recruitment team still found them all in the end.
