Usman Khawaja

I read an interesting article recently about how Jofra Archer has been represented in the media. It was in a similar vein.

Jude Bellingham is another.

Negative characterisations with racial stereotypes in the vicinity.
Exactly. It's not about how much money he's got imo. Its about breaking down barriers which he says still exists in the game.

He's stuck his head above the parapet on a few topics Im interested in so deserves my respect.

I might not always like the way Aussies go on including Khawaja at times. But I do respect him.

The bloke is entitled to his opinion. Regardless of the rights and wrongs of what he has said, the timing is completely without class. He will in all probabilty get a very mixed response at Sydney when it could for him have been so much better.

If he wanted to raise the racial issues, he could have done it after this series and done something constructive such as founding a charitable foundation or sponsoring kids from less advantaged backgrounds. Either he is very headstrong or has been badly advised. His comments about racism are now likely to become self-fulfilling as he'll probably become toxic. Sometimes it's better if you want to advance your cause to work from the inside.

Is there ever a wrong time to highlight racial issues?

WTF does that have to do with any of what he said? You didn’t listen to the interview did you?

It’s excellent. People would do well to hear his actual words and also those of Bharat Sundharesan (sp?).

Are victims of racial abuse exempt from being able to make money like? Horrific false equivalence from you that. Not remember all the racial abuse suffered by Saka and Rashford following Euro 2020? I don’t remember them being forced into bankruptcy as a result 🤷‍♂️
He should be grateful for the opportunities he has recieved in Australia. The same opportunities that wouldn’t be given to a non Muslim in Pakistan.

Pakistan is a developing country. I would say its about 75-100 years to even being close to being developed. And thats being generous.

Opportunities there are slim for Muslims and non Muslims alike.

Are you saying he should just be grateful didn't grow up in a shithole?

Absolutely.

It's just sad a lad is going out of a thing he loves and the last thing that's being talked being talked about is the cricket :(
I remember the more knuckle headed Aussies fans on twitter having a go at the lad cos he didn't want the champagne (for obvious reasons) after winning a man of the match one test and the moral of the story, idiots have a voice on social media ;)

See how it works

Whilst not necessarily a tradition, the team go out of their way to accommodate, but it isn’t reciprocated.
Yeah fuck that. It’s a big part of our culture here to have a drink after a game on a Saturday as well. In fact it’s one of the more enjoyable aspects of playing IMO.

And we won’t be changing that at our club because the lefties are wringing their hands.

What the fuck are you dribbling on about. No-one wants to stop anyone having a beer after, before or during a game.
