Franchise cricket again

Isn't it telling that even in the most obnoxious and morally bankrupt cricket administration in the world, they use a load of that money to support first class cricket, as their instrument to maintain consistently one the best two test match cricket teams year after year after year. They're arseholes ruining the game, but they know what they're doing and are focused on success where it matters far better than the ECB. Makes their few million windfall for the counties from their silly little Hundred look pathetic.

And all those players seem to have no problem switching between formats

And when you seen the scenes on the streets last year when Bangalore won it.

It’s more than fair to say it meant a lot to their supporters so they clearly felt the side was representing their area/city/town.

Guess it’s like the Premier League. The relationship we have with Sunderland and the relationship some bloke in Kuala Lumpur has with Manchester City is probably not the same. Our money is though.

Well it's not broadcast in the UK anymore so pretty difficult to do that?

They used to show the CSA20 on UK TV I'm sure @chunkyshanhawk53 would be watching that if he had the option.

As he says he's only watching as nowt else on.

I watch all cricket in South Africa from under 19 onwards. I watch every ball in the red ball format twice just to ensure it’s properly watched

Both the BBL and the SA equivalent are on at convenient times for me to watch. I will catch 15 to 20 minutes of the BBL whilst eating my breakfast and the SA games whilst dinner is cooking. I have no interest in the outcomes and rarely look up to see who won. I did watch an SA game yesterday that I found particularly boring as Ryan Rickleton just whacked every ball for six
 
I had to turn the last SA game I watched off. The Local commentator was trying to describe the game. His SA accent was very boring and sounded like a very upright Army officer issuing orders. Not appealling and downright ugly tbh.

Clearly the Indians enjoy it, as clearly you do also, as any are fully entitled to do.
Many,however,deplore the ridiculous imbalance between bat and ball rendering it no longer a contest of skill. Hence they conclude it is crap.
They're equally fully entitled to hold that view.
There are no certainties about it. There's simply conflicting views.

I think it’s more than fair to say in any sport if you have the very top players in the world playing in it the quality will be good or at very least best of that format or sport.

Which is the opposite of crap.

That’s common sense to me but like you say everyone entitled to a view.

It’s also fair say the IPL still hold the importance of top class bowlers as relevant hence the amount so go for in the auction

Obviously it attracts the best in that format as it offers the most money but that doesn't alter in the slightest the view that it's a crap form of cricket because of the vast imbalance between bat and ball.

Yes I live in North Yorkshire - actually Posh Harrowgate. Public Schools all over the place. Where I played cricket for 40 years I was always called by my surname. I know my place - you see I am from Dawdon Colliery.
 
Soulless and boring stuff for me. I like watching the T20 Blast, but anything with a draft I have no interest in. Sport is about developing an affinity to your team and it's regular players, you can't do that when those players become interchangeable year on year.

It just isn’t something that aligns properly with the way we absorb sport and the way we follow and fall in love with our clubs in this country.

It works in America, it doesn’t work here.
