The homegrown rule and January

He does. As do Alese, Cirkin etc

Hume doesn’t however.

Mayenda and Diarra qualify due to being under the age limit at the start of the season I think. Won’t in future
Basically my OP was guff
Saliba qualified as homegrown as he was born in the first six months of the year and the way the seasons are recorded he got the three full years despite turning 21 before reaching the full three years. Mayenda is in the same situation.

Just having a peruse of who is homegrown and available.

There isn’t a huge amount out there.

George at Chelsea (off to Fulham), Bajcetic/Elliott at Liverpool, Bobb, McAtee…and then you’re onto the championship which is hardly full of promising home grown players. Hackney and Rudoni but do they really improve the squad for the amount they’d cost?

We need to start planning for this, as there aren’t that many obvious academy graduates for the PL…

It's because of this I expect Masuaki, Hjelde and Traore to not be here next season. Pretty sure Talbi, Diarra and Sadiki will need to become part of the 25 man squad next season as they all turn 21 this season. Think Abdullahi and Aleksic fall into this too, but probably loaned out, if not sold.

That would keep us at 14, as long as we sign Geertruida. Then we could have a bit of space to sign a few.

this is why if we get an enormous offer for Sadiki i think we may let him go.
Might explain why were looking at that 18 yr old baller

Yeah the championship is a weird one at the moment as both players you mentioned likely the best, however expensive for what you’re getting and 23/24 too. In my opinion they’re not too dissimilar to Neil and he can’t get a look in 😔

Looking at out of contract players there are a few, however reckon their wages would be expensive/out of range/not the direction recruitment are looking for and a lot of teams in a similar position would be looking too…

Harry Wilson (guessing he’ll sign a new deal?)
John Stones (Everton if city don’t renew?)
Andrew Robertson (guessing he’ll sign a new deal)
Harry Maguire (be in huge money)
Danny Wellbeck

Also seems like that Arthur Avom is out of contract this summer and we’ve been linked previously.

Home grown players aren't really the problem, just sign some cheap filler or keep some older lads on the cheap. But might be a good idea to buy more foreign under 21s.
Similar to Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford. Seems to be the best policy squad building wise and then keep older or squad players around for the numbers?
