Was a great cross, great timing of the run, and a great finish from a top quality centre forward. Sometimes that happens.Mukiele stood and watched DCL stroll past him and score, yet Hume was truly shocking![]()
I just thought you seemed to be glossing over one player’s faults and emphasising the other’s. And you still are.Was a great cross, great timing of the run, and a great finish from a top quality centre forward. Sometimes that happens.
Do you genuinely believe that Mukiele was poorer than Hume on the day?
You do realise that a defender can only defend the situation that is actually happening, but if the opposition pull of a pre planned ‘trick’, the defender will likely react too late.Mukiele stood and watched DCL stroll past him and score, yet Hume was truly shocking![]()
Dont think he is ,he is pointing out that if all fit Trai wouldnt be in starting back 4.I like Hume and think he will play a load of games in various positionsI just thought you seemed to be glossing over one player’s faults and emphasising the other’s. And you still are.
I don’t think a CF running to the near post is a surprising trick. It was well executed yep but routine. Mukiele switched off at a crucial moment, which cost us a goal and 2 points. You do realise that a defender can only defend the situation that is actually happening, but if the opposition pull of a pre planned ‘trick’, the defender will likely react too late.
The Leeds goal was well crafted and difficult to stop as it developed very quickly and the winger knew where DCL wanted the cross
I might agree with that. Still, while Trai wasn’t at his best on Sun I’d say calling his performance ‘truly shocking’ is overstating it.Dont think he is ,he is pointing out that if all fit Trai wouldnt be in starting back 4.I like Hume and think he will play a load of games in various positions

That split second delay was all it takes.
If you are looking to blame someone, why didn’t Xhaka prevent the cross ?, where was Cirkin ?
Sometimes you have to acknowledge a good move was almost impossible to stop
You still haven’t answered the question, who played better?I just thought you seemed to be glossing over one player’s faults and emphasising the other’s. And you still are.
Mukiele was better for most of the game but I think he should have done a better job of stopping the goal. DCL had so much space because Mukiele stood off him. Watch it back. He never breaks out of a trot or gets anywhere near him.You still haven’t answered the question, who played better?
I’m not glossing over Mukiele’s faults, I genuinely thought he was one of our best players on the day when everyone around him was struggling in the second half.
The point about the cross, is that there was so much space for DCL to attack that he could have gone near post, far post or just held his run. DCL said in the post match interview that he felt that his timing is spot on at the minute. I don’t think any defender is stopping that goal from that position.
What like he did Jimenez at fulham?I'm not looking to blame someone. I was replying to a post that overstated how bad Hume was and how good Mukiele was.
Credit to Leeds for a good goal but Mukiele should have anticipated DCL’s run. It's a really half-hearted attempt to screen him off. Watch it back. I reckon Ballard would have got tighter and blocked his run or at least the shot.
That wasn't great to be fairWhat like he did Jimenez at fulham?
I think you misunderstand completely. We HAVE to lose this fabric tag.
Bally was one of my favourite players.
Onien gave everything
Hume best assets is his strong no nonsense approach.
It’s time to put to bed this hero guts and glory approach that has won us nothing in 50 plus years.
We need a technical approach and this is what we are building.
Le fee leaves his passion on the field without upending players.
I’m worrying for New Year’s Day. Both city’s wingers will rip up apart.
I think you misunderstand completely.
This is the north east. We love a tackle, we love passion, we love effort, commitment and leaving nothing out there. We love talent equally.
That is in the fabric of north east football and SAFC. You need a balance. Hard players to fly into tackles and get the crowd up, along with a sprinkling of class. There is of course a balance to be had.
I also don’t think it’s necessarily about winning major trophies. You allude to 50 years without winning the league or FA cup as total failure. It would be lovely of course, but I don’t think that’s the genuine expectation or the reason SAFC exists. It’s to have a team the city can be proud of and reflects our people an identity. And players like Hume & Ballard reflect the club and the city perfectly. In my opinion. Honest, hard working, committed, and f***ing good at football too.
I do get what you are saying, but I still think you are being harsh oh Hume.Fair play.
Don’t get me wrong I’ve grown up with this also. It’s programmed into us.
However it’s been the same year in year out.
I remember going to top flight games against stoke being 3v0 down at half time and dreaming of a player like Hume to show an ounce of passion.
However this current team breaks this mould.
it gives you football we’ve not seen before. Close one touch football, vision, desire and work rate without the reckless approach.
You don’t see this flying in approach anymore in the top flight game. It’s vanished under VAR and with extremely delicate modern day players.
Wimbledon were masters of this but I’d like to bet that their fabric has had to of changed even for their league.
