I don’t think he does. We’ll see when we get a full strength squad to pick from.Yet RLB seems to disagree.

Sums it up well. He’s proved he can be effective in this league and is young enough to develop more, but we have four defenders ahead of him as starters when all available.I really like Hume but he’s suited to some games rather than others. Yesterday left exposed by Rigg he got tortured at times. He’s undoubtably a premier league player though
While Hume isn't in the same position nor as good technically he reminds me of Enzo. He may not always play at his best but he leaves everything on the pitch and that makes him okay in my eyes.Sums it up well. Do they do fencesLet's be honest, anyone who can't see that he's good enough clearly paints roundabouts on Friday nights
And the fact he DOESN'T rely on his pace means he should improve, improve, improve for the next 10 years or soHe's played in 18 of our 18 Premier League games this season, in his first PL season, starting 16 of those, playing 90+ minutes in 13 of those, and sometimes even played out of position. We're 7th in the league, and he's won us plenty of points in those games too. It's pretty obvious he's good enough for the PL, and at age 23 has room to improve too.
Exactly. Even Xhaka was off it second half yesterday.Hume has probably averaged 7/10 so far this season. He's generally played well against really good players. He struggled quite badly yesterday. However, it stood out because he has been really good so far this season. To say he's not good enough for the Premier suggests you haven't been watching. I saw Cucarella have a really poor game a while back. I've seen Guehi have a bad game. It happens because it's an unforgiving league.
If we decided to sell him there’d be plenty of interest from PL clubs. Defo a PL player imoExactly, there are some interesting takes.
He's clearly more than an ok squad player.

Good post.
Is he our best defender? No
Is he one of the best full backs in the league? Probably not.
But he isSAFC in everything this club stands for. Part of the fabric. A modern day Bally (in a different era).
Hume and Ballard are a huge reason behind what has happened at SAFC in the last 12-18 months. Celebrate them.

I’m worrying for New Year’s Day. Both city’s wingers will rip up apart.
It helps to be quick but isn’t essential, Neville was never pedestrian but was also not what you’d really call fast, however he had a very good understanding of the position he played and was one of the best around.A full back has to be quick?
He was quick enough to stop certain goal yesterday
He was truly shocking yesterday. Cirkin hasn’t played for 8 months and looked much better.
Right of a back 4 he gets rinsed by good championship wingers. All their attacks yesterday in the second half came down the right (even their goal started on the right before switching it to the left). They deliberately changed their press to make us play out through the right as well as they realise Hume not comfortable enough on the ball.
Highlight of the second half was watching Mukiele decide he would just play right back as well. Christ what an amazing player he is!
Hume’s had a great start to the season and is a versatile player who can play in a back 5 or in midfield too, but he shouldn’t be starting unless we are short (like we are at the moment).
