The homegrown rule and January

Just looking at what space we have here, and it’s not a lot

You’re allowed max 17 players in your 25 man squad (excludes under 21s) who haven’t played 3 years in England/Wales before they turned 21

We’ve used 16 this season, so unless we drop one from the squad (Masuaku I guess) we can only sign one “foreigner” in January. Doesn’t include Abdullahi/Tutierov either

Caveat: I think this is how it works.

Think you meant to say 17 who hasn't played 3 years in England under 21. The 'foreign' section of the squad list.

Surely you mean max of 17 who didn’t play in England

There are 14 none homegrown registered in the 25 man squad, room for three more in January. Although some currently in the u21 will need to be registered next year which will have to be considered.
Interesting. Who are the ones that don’t currently count as overseas?

Edit: I see it’s Sadiki, Talbi and Mayenda who are fine this season.

Diarra also. Mayenda may count as homegrown as in a similar situation to Saliba from Arsenal, but this was classed as a loophole and not sure if still applicable. Hjelde is one of the fourteen so enjoy him while you can as this will likely be his last season.

Its imperative that when Patterson and Moore go, that we get homegrown 2nd and 3rd choice keepers.

Easy wins
Loads of teams do this , although good, back up keeper incase who is classified as homegrown, about 30ish had a good career, happy to sit on bench and collect a good but not massive wage in comparison to others in squad

Doesn't Ballard also count as homegrown for his Arsenal years? Just guessing.
He does. As do Alese, Cirkin etc

Hume doesn’t however.

Mayenda and Diarra qualify due to being under the age limit at the start of the season I think. Won’t in future
Basically my OP was guff
