Who can England build their team around post Ashes?

That’s even more zany than what Stokes and McCullum could ever come up with. Smith opening the batting ffs and Robinson who averages about 25 over the last year and a half.
Tbh not seen much of the other contenders. I like Hameed, although not sure he is test match quality.

Both of those players had amazing technique and a solid defence. Duckett wafts at everything outside his off stump.

You’re not actually comparing Duckett with Bradman and Tendulkar 😂
A bit of leap that.

What I'm saying is that you don't need to be seven foot tall to play cuts and pulls and be successful in Oz, which was the argument being made.

There won't be wholesale changes but we need to have some sort of plan.

We can't even make a firm decision on our spinner.

Actually. The argument I was trying to make (maybe I didn’t explain it properly) is that he predominantly likes to feel bat on ball, he plays a lot of horizontal bat shots, and he has poor technique to handle the bounce in Australia…..and because he’s a shortass that makes it even harder on the bouncy wickets

Mccullum has to go, need a new coach in to bring some more discipline and technical coaching to the team. By discipline I'm talking game awareness and prep.
Kristen, Gillespie type.

Really think a KP or a Ponting would be ideal batting coaches.
Bowling coach - Donald, Steyning
Fielding Coach - need to bring this back

Haines/Gay/Mckenzie/Sibley
Duckett
Stokes - Move him upto 3 (think he needs to look at the big picture of 2027, can only really get there if he limits his bowling workload - play as 4th seamer and max 1 spell a day)
Root
Brook
Bethell
Smith WK (would want Rew in as keeper or Foakes but can't find the batting space to fit them in alongside Smith)
Ahmed (might as well develop his legs pin and see if he can be a game changer for England)
Archer
Atkinson
Tongue

You've got Cox as spare batter.
Rew as spare keeper
Vaughan if he keeps developing for off spin.
Hartley/Leach as your left arm spin options.
Carse for away tests
Potts, Stone as your backup seamers in England.
Hull if he continues to develop.

Being harsh on Crawley based on how he's done this series but his game just doesn't stack up to test match standard and I'd move on from him.

Duckett gets a stay based on previous form but badly needs a good home series to keep his place.

For Stokes to stay on and manage his body to 2027, we're gonna need Bethell to develop his spin massively so that a seamer/all rounder can come in for Ahmed when conditions need a 4th seamer.

Stokes to walk away end of home Ashes gives the new Captain 18 months to settle before the away Ashes.
If Root were to still be a top quality batter could see him dropping to 5 or 6 in the Away Ashes but feel he could call it a day alongside Stokes, especially if he has Tendulkars record at that point.
