Jack Clarke

I'd have him back in Jan. He was mint. Really good.
Not just because his output (key stats) was always phenomenal, but he was relentless. As much as his goals, my main memories of him are skipping round 4, 5, 6 tackles to win a foul in the 95th minute to wrap up

Looks like Ipswich have a decent chance of being promoted again after a pretty poor start. Question for him is, if you start 1/3 in the championship & get 20mins for the remaining 2/3, would getting promoted be good for him. He could end up being in a Dan Neil, Patterson or Cirkin situation, or be sold to another Championship team.

By all accounts he still has 3/12 years left on his contract.

Yes in my opinion but as @Longy said he could have ended up in a Dan Neil, Patterson or Cirkin situation had he stayed.
I don't begrudge him but I think we was way better than any of them. Check out our highlights from the start of 24/25 season, he's mint!
I think KLD has raised the standard of player at Sunderland… I know the romantics on this board love an old name but SAFC have moved on from that level, imo!
True. Still think he's mint from what I saw barely a year ago.
Like, he was way better than Hume and Ballard....

Not an experiment I’d encourage us to undertake, but I think he’d fit in ok in our set up. He was athletic, tracked back. He’d suit our 4-5-1, which Ipswich appear to not want to play him in.

However, I only say that because he played for us. If he’d have never played for Sunderland I wouldn’t know he existed never mind if he could fit into our system.

If you saw his data for us youd probably be keen though.
I don't like going back once jilted myself, but we all saw how incredibly good he was so often. He's a game changer, a match winner, squeezes goals from nowhere, and defends just by keeping the ball til they have to foul him.

Aye, but my post was saying that if Ipswich get promoted, that’s what might happen.

I honestly don’t know if he’d have played a part in this team. Mundle will & he was ahead of him.

I can see why he left. Premier League football. I think most will agree he’d have hoped he’d have more minutes on the pitch. Few would have also seen us as getting a play off place in March too.

Suppose it’s a question of can he do that in the Premier League. We can confidently say he can in the Championship.

I'm assuming so since Hume and Mundle can.
So much has happened since that it's easy to forget he was our best player last season (for 3 games)

I always found him to be one-dimensional compared to Hume and Mundle.
He was one of our better players as he had flair and the confidence to take on multiple opposition but it was always the same; take on opposition, cut into centre and shoot. He struggled when playing a deeper role and didn't track back as much as Mundle.
