Is Keith Downie forgiven?

I have it on good authority he disliked the mags before the take over. He saw an opportunity and is trying to jump on the gravy train with them, happy to sell his soul too. If that’s what he wants then fair enough but when he gets shit off Sunderland fans for doing so he just needs to suck it up and stop being a minge.
Nah, he was well in with their backroom staff on the business side, way before the takeover.

I have nothing against him and wish him no ill will at all.

But when it comes to his coverage I just get the feeling he is professionally as a minimum hugely invested in Newcastle. Probably as a result of lots of hard work to get to the point of being 'in' with them and it feels like a he has them as his second club behind Hearts or whoever he supports.

Whereas Sunderland are just a job and he isnt as personally invested, possibly also because he has had years of abuse from Sunderland fans.

This, adults (I assume) getting upset because some Scottish bloke doesn't post on X as much about the team they support.
Personally, I think someone who doesn’t do their job properly or professionally should be held to account. Not to mention he loves bringing up sob stories of the unfair abuse he receives, so quite relevant to highlight exactly why he keeps having these issues.

Exactly. On sky sports news, his predecessor David Craig was very fair and balanced covering us, them and Boro and regularly attending all 3 grounds and managed to leave this area without upsetting any sets of fans. Downie has spent his time in the north east covering Newcastle 98% of the time and then we had his famous Twitter retort to one of our fans when he was questioned on why he hardly ever covered us... " Come back when you are relevant "
Wanker!

I reckon Sky would do that, he isn't accountable to you.

I always understood we and vast majority of clubs aren’t reported on well unless they’re in the prem. which we have seen this season on how much that has changed.

He’s always hid behind “I’m told to report on PL” and a load of other similar excuses. But this season has really shown his true colours and he’s got nowhere to hide

Newcastle fan boy, Saudi Shill and is in it for the coin. Simple as.

Do journalists not have a service to the people they represent?
Sky Sports must be happy with his performance or he wouldn't still be there. They probably quite like that some fans don't like him, it'll drive their clicks up.
He's paid to be the north east football reporter (nufc, safc, boro)
He's not paid to be Necwcastle and his excellencies cheer leader.

Hopefully a tree lands on his car again, preferably with him in it.
He's previously pointed out he's more PL focussed which will explain why Boro rarely feature, at the moment anyway.
