ID checks for away tickets

I did suggest to them that the club could at least specify what kind of ID is acceptable.
If they don’t specify then I assume a card with your name on is fine for ID as I don’t carry photo ID, or were they specifically asking for photo ID and I’ll need to start carrying for aways as o often leaving a day before the game to travel

As I always have my driving licence on me, I just showed them that. I've got no idea what would have happened otherwise.

So I have 3 tickets on my phone, mine my eldest and my youngest lads, anyway not thinking and I always do this I scanned a ticket in goes the eldest I scan the next ticket in goes the youngest so I know the eldest grabs him then I go to scan in and blocked ffs, after a bit of craic with the stewards they insist I have to go to ticket office n leave the boys inside, anyway when I get there the ticket that is the problem is the eldests as he is usually bought on its own phase 2 as he's a bit behind points wise, anyway telling over an hour of clart on and Brighton lassie is on phone to sunlun I e had to pull the lads out show them my eldest lad wie doesn't have Id then we get paper tickets anyway and head back in, all tickets and emails come to me and id had nowt for the eldest lad, was an absolute ball ache and my anxiety shot through the bloody roof, lassie in ticket off said it was all a sunlun thing from there side, I suppose all well that ends well but didn't have this f***ing clart on at Cheltenham on a weeknight ffs
I am just amazed they could actually get through to our ticket office by phone.

Maybe our representative for RAWA could raise this important issue at the next meeting with the club? @Becs thank you

There would have only been 50 or 60 in total. Most of them probably never come near this place. This forum isn't nearly as representative of the fan base as it thinks it is. For a start, there's a vastly disproportionate number of non-attenders

I do agree with this mind. As the vast majority on here do not go to the games.
They will get to see my season ticket on me phone, that’s the only bit of ID I would carry and Obs apple wallet bank cards.

Im exactly the same. I carry no ID at all.
Nor will I start too.
They'll get as you say, my season ticket on my phone

Failing that. Theres nothing.

Ridiculous that people who travel all over potentially have to show ID despite already paying and travelling hundreds of miles whilst the likes of that fella from Canada somehow getting tickets despite not being a season ticket holder and getting straight through

The irony of this is that the ID checks are happening to stop the likes of the fella from Canada “somehow getting a ticket”.

We all know that the Club aren't really targetting the likes of us, it's the touts that they really want, although they're going the wrong way about it in my opinion. Trouble is we are all being caught up with it and as happened with @Grumpy Old Man we run the risk of getting caught up with all this simply because he was ill and couldn't get to the game at Man City. The TO will assume he missed the match on purpose because he had "passed" his ticket on. So they decide to pull him out for another check at Brighton almost as if saying yeah we didn't believe you last time. What is fueling this are the guys who have few points. They're kicking off because they cant get tickets. They blame everybody apart from themselves. Had they made the effort when they could have done and gone to the crap games in League 1 and the Championship they wouldn't be complaining. They have only themselves to blame and they know it. But still they complain. Shame on the Club for pandering to them

It’s actually in the interests of exiles and people with few points to not have any ticket checks and allow the black market to continue.

Not sure why people on few points would be pushing an agenda which aims to block their only access to tickets.

I agree thats what some exiles want but I was talking about ST holders generally. I'm an exile myself. The vast majority of exiles are great guys, I know loads, their passion has almost been fueled by the fact that they simply cant get to as many games as they used to. Every game is special. But as you say there are some who have become used to getting tickets for local games from either contacts or facebook or whoever and are very vocal. But as I referenced above they too have only themselves to blame.

Think the fairest way would be as follows.

Same rolling three year system we have now with the various bands.

2 points available for every game for SC holders - one point for just applying for a ticket to any match, one point if you get a ticket and go to the game in the various bands same as right now (So that you can still build points even if you’re on a low points). But stricter checks to ensure those going actually are using their ticket.

But alongside that I’d love to see the club offer a scheme for those without SC, so they pay a fee each season for a membership - which entitles you to half a point for application and half a point if you get a ticket for away games. So exiles can still build points, but at a slower rate then if you have a SC.

That scheme as a whole rewards those who go home and away every week, season ticket holders is still the best way to build points as they’re the lifeblood of the club, it gives an opportunity for those lower down to build points without it being a closed shop (if they’re prepared to go all over the shop) and gives exiles an opportunity to build points still in their own name.

This.

Feels like the only way ill get to an away now is on somebody elses ticket.

The risk that after travelling that may be confiscated will put plenty off.

Nah, cos with it being e-tickets those exiles in the local area to the match will still happily risk it, as not far to travel home if can’t get in, and if they do get a ticket ID checked will hope to pick up another non-ID checked ticket on the day.

People could be on 19 points and not getting tickets. If they have they’ve certainly put a decent stint in.

Stop having a go at fellow dedicated fans!
