Brighton fan in peace

Well, what a result.

They say ‘happy wife, happy life’, and the Mrs is over the moon, so I’m very pleased for you.

I think it was a fair result with your visitors having very limited chances. Of course, your goal was fortunate, but you make you own luck and actually got the ball in the box quickly.

Thanks for getting that win out of the way; now hopefully we might be a sterner test as fellow opposition in the top half …

It’s almost turning into a must win game for us. We’ve been on a bit of a poor run recently and don’t want to allow you, or other sides to get further away.

Enjoy your hangovers (please can they extend to your side on Saturday) and safe travels down.

Any questions I’ll try and help.

We are stopping over, so do you still recommend staying at the ground for a pint for a pint? We are in the Hilton on the front.

I notice Dunk and Gomez are suspended. Will they be much of a miss?

Any thoughts on Watson so far? I see he's only played 40 PL minutes all season. Will you be looking at getting him out on loan in January?

Firstly, good luck on Sunday. I’m sure most of the footballing world would be delighted if you can secure all three points. You’ve been a breath of fresh air since being promoted.

I’m also completely biased as I’m married to a Mackem and was delighted when you got promoted in May.

Anyway, Brighton STH very much in peace, looking ahead to our fixture next Saturday at the AMEX.

Happy to answer any questions about your upcoming visit.

It’s only your second visit to our ‘new’ home. Your first was in the League Cup way back in 2011 when you were only the fourth side to come and visit. It’s also the first time we’ll have played each other in the league since 2005. That fixture was at the Withdean in the season you won the Championship. The last time we hosted you before that was in 1992. There can’t have been many fixtures where the last three league meetings have been at three different home grounds!

Brighton, as many of you will know is a fantastic city with lots of places to eat and drink whilst enjoying a long weekend. Unfortunately, with the stadium being where it is (not in the city centre, another long story), places close to the ground are limited.

Your best best is to drink in Brighton (or alternatively Lewes) and then utilise the free travel that is included your match ticket. The stadium has a dedicated railway station - Falmer - train travel is free on matchdays to and from Brighton (and other nearby stations).

The only place to drink around the ground that welcomes away fans is Sussex University’s student bar (it is very good). It’s not in the city but a 10 minute walk to the ground.

The city itself is full of amazing pubs with something for everything but just allow enough time to get the train to the ground if you do this.

I’ll revert back to this thread with some suggestions of pubs but very happy to answer any questions you may have in the meantime about travel etc.

100% yes. The best way to enjoy the stadium is to allow enough time.

The concourses stay open after the game, so either have a drink in the away end or make your way round to either the North Stand or our new fanpark – The Terrace (you can't miss it). Let the queues die down, then get the train back.

Dunk is a massive miss. He, alongside Van Hecke, has been a rock. Dunk has been our best player for a number of years. Gomez is good, but yet to find his best. He will be a miss becuase we have so many injuries at the moment and need all the players we can get!

He hasn't really done anything. There is a player in there, but it's taken him some time to settle, which is understandable, being a young lad. He has also been injured, so we have yet to see enough of him for most to be able to make a judgement.

SSy how long to get back to central station after the match?

You’ll be waiting for at least twenty minutes. Possibly longer. I’d say forty minutes with half an hour waiting and a ten minute train.
Which other injuries do you have?
Mitoma - one of our best players and can change a game in an instant. He was on the bench vs. Liverpool for the first time in ages.

Adam Webster - another centre half.

Tzimas - new striker out for the season who did his ACL recently.

Solly March - a few years ago it looked like he could get into the England squad but he also did his ACL and hasn’t been the same since.

And Baleba is off to AFCON - last year that would have been a massive blow but he’s been absolutely woeful at times this season.

I’m guessing Danny ‘the Mag Slayer’ Wellbeck is fit and in fine form?

Where are you trying to get back to afterwards?

Brighton is better if you want something lively and to see the city.

Lewes is more relaxed with excellent CAMRA / proper pubs.
Sorry, I meant are the queues for the trains better or worse if you are going to Lewes?

We have been to Brighton and Lewes many times. Lewes works better for us on Saturday as there are direct trains to Clapham Junction.... and we do like the pubs there.

Nice one mate. I am one of the few Sunderland fan who’ve seen Brighton v Sunderland at all three BHAFC grounds. Looking forward to the weekend.
