Our recruitment in the summer is looking pound for pound the best in the division. And what I particularly like is we seem to be a side littered with leaders, with Xhaka obviously being the pinnacle of that.
Le Bris talked about Traore in training about a month ago & bigged him up massively saying he now understood how we want to play but made a point of saying he’s his country’s captain & was a natural leader.

It can be hard to view from the outside, cos people just see names & assume it’s scattergun. I thought that about Forest, but it worked for them.

Even I didn’t realise, until I started watching the players understanding their game but also their personalities how planned this summer all was. Wonder what other examples of such good transfer windows there are. Not many I’d guess.

Diarra was Strasbourg captain too. Lots of very astute signings with big game and leadership experience

agree but I don't think anyone could have hoped or predicted they would 'gel' so well

there are multiple factors as to why, but Xhaka signing and guiding the players through games and keeping the standards ridiculously high at the AoL is gigantic
Xhaka definitely has helped, like a second coach on the pitch.

But a lot of the credit has to go to RLB for making it clear what's expected from each player. Not trying ing to overcomplicated things with a specific system etc

I was reading a report in the paper this morning and Bruno said after the game he was angry and upset because he knows their team is better than ours. Now I know he is a complete whopper and I suppose he has to say these things to placate their fuckwit fanbase but I honestly don't think it is. I really can't think of one of their players that I would put into our team when our whole team is fit.

Interesting because iirc carragher said the opposite on sky yesterday! Only Xhaka would get in the skunk team

is that our squad isn't some bunch of make weights harvested from the basements of European football. They're all very high quality players.

Xhaka and Mukiele came from the side that finished second in the Bundesliga. Reinildo came from the team that finished third in Spain. Talbi and Sadiki came from the Belgian champions and the team that came second (and won the cup). Geertuida and Alderete are international players playing for top half sides in elite leagues. Basically, we've signed top international / champions league level players. I'm not entirely sure how we've managed to convince so many very good players to chuck in champions league football and come to us.
Money and the prospect of fame!

Guiu?

I had numerous Mags asking me deadly serious through the week if we'd miss LoN in the derby. They honestly haven't got a clue
Shows their ignorance. They’ve gone on all season as if we’re a flash in the pan and while our form will go up and down, naturally, the players we’ve signed are no mugs with the pedigree and experience they’ve got. They think we’ve bought a load of nobodies/has beens. Anyone who’s watched us would know that’s not the case. It’s not the 2013 De Fanti/Di Canio bargain basement trolley sweep 😂

It probably gets harder from here on in. Other clubs will now be keeping an eye on all of our targets cos they know how good our scouting system is so they'll try to gazump us, I would imagine. We need to continue to get deals done on the quiet with no word on any signings until we get a "here we go" when it's all but done and dusted.

Nordi, Omar being prime examples.

What a knacker. Would not have a single player over ours.

Totally agree. I've been telling them since WHU the calibre of players we have are a different level to what they think and we'd stay up but they thought I was deluded... And then they thought we just had an easy start... And then we were lucky... Blah blah blah.

I had the same. He was dead chuffed until I told him LON had played about 5 mins of football. He even thought he was still our captain?!
