Sunderland railway station.

No doubt he will get grief no matter what he does, compared to say Chris Mullin when he was our MP, night and day. Thought Mullin couldn't have cared less about Sunderland, it was just the place that allowed him to be an MP. Back then Sunderland would have voted anybody in wearing red rosette. This Lewis lad knows he has to do stuff for the city if he wants to stay as MP, seems decent bloke.
 
Travelled through the station on Monday. The platform level area is horrendous. dark and dingy like a run down underground station in a power cut. What’s galling is that Middlesborough Station is so much better, like a mainline station as opposed to our underground bunker.

Not true mind. The most useless MP we've had in recent times was Bill Etherington.

Closest it’s come to this was Malcolm Allison dressed in a massive sheepskin coat waiting for the boro train after match

Aye. It was bombed during the war and was low priority on the rebuilding scale afterwards. It was finally rebuilt in time for the 1966 World Cup. What was originally an arch spanned roof was covered in shops to help British Rail raise revenue from its property portfolio.
