Simon Adingra 🇨🇮 Signed!

He's a 23 year old bought for around £20m. In what world is he going to play in the championship. It's a squad game and he could quite easily work his way into the starting XI.

Theres posts on this board today advocating selling or loaning out half of our team. Not sure what world some people are living in.
calm down fella its just an opinion.

He's been in prem for couple of years and now at us where we are weakest out wide and he still cant get in the team. Even mundle gets on the pitch ahead of him and he is brand new to prem. Be a bigger miracle than safc this season if he somehow ends up 1st choice later.

Don’t think Reggie trusts him yet, he’s shown he will sometime pick a ‘lesser’ player if he trusts him more. I think adingra is at a crossroads in his young career. He had a slow start at Brighton then went on to make himself a decent part of a good side before his form tailed back off again. He hasn’t clicked here yet has shown little glimpses of his talent here but hasn’t shown it over a full game or more. He needs to buckle down and kick on after the afcon or he could be looking for his third club in the space of a year as a team looking to push on we can’t afford to wait around too long for him to earn a starting spot.

I agree, there is potential there in terms of his attacking play, if he put himself about a bit more and was generally more of a nuisance to the opposition defensively I think that would make a big difference in terms of getting more minutes.

If he was doing what the likes of Salah do/did going forward it wouldn't matter if he didn't chip in going the other way but he hasn't made a massive impact offensively so can understand why he is out of the team.

If it were a question of Adingra running at the mags full back or Traore I’d have Adingra all day long he has more quality and flair.

But rightly or wrongly RLB doesn’t like the other parts of Adingra’s game and caution first and defending is winning the argument. It’s a real shame as we aren’t creating much and Adingra’s attacking ceiling is so much higher than many of the players that we are playing every week.

When have you seen this superior quality? Certainly not in a Sunderland shirt

Well he hasn't shown much of it on the pitch, which was probably why Brighton sold him. He wasn't doing it there either. He's been the one disappointing aspect of the Summer transfers, so far. Never say never but he needs to buck his ideas up or he'll be surplus to requirements. I forgot about Masuaku the other one that looks a poor signing.

Le Bris first and foremost likes hard working players and Adingra doesn’t seem to bust a gut in the games he’s played. He’s probably been the only disappointment interms of our new signings for me.
Doesn't mean he can't work his way back into the team.

I don't actually think his problem was a lack of effort defensively, I think it was a lack of defensive understanding. Not knowing where to position himself, when to press, who to press, and so on.

But regardless, whether it's work ethic or ability, both can be worked on.

He's going to have his chance with us now and, for him personally, it's his chance to prove them wrong for when the World Cup comes around so he's in that squad.
