They’ve the foot on our throat. And unlike what we do, they’ll keep it there until there’s basically no breathe. Like a cat with a dying mouse.

They’ll keep batting, put us in under the lights, have us 5 down overnight and finish us off tomorrow with Cricket Australia not having to dish out refunds.

It’s like they know they’re not going to win so their arrogance can’t take the digging in.

They’ve built themselves up to be this ‘we know best’ outfit and have been shown up completely.

I know there’s along way to go, but I don’t see a future for a few of these players, including Stokes as captain and McCullum. I’ve never been a fan of Rob Key either. I thought after the last ashes series down under we would never be as bad again, this lot could be worse.

And the reaction to that (as well as the comments before the series started when questioned about preparation) means that the press criticism is going to be absolutely scathing if this turns out as we expect.

The cricket press can be fairly acerbic at the best of times but when the set up have burned through credit like no-one’s business, it could get pretty hairy. And I’m not sure this side and the management will take it well.

If this had been the 1st test, we'd be clinging to some positives like Root 100, highest score in Australia since 2017, Starcs pink ball record, Crawleys 76. Archer getting through 20 overs in a day. Slow start due to lack of prep, they'll improve etc...

The fact its the 2nd on the back of a 2 day compitulation in the 1st test, against an Australia attack as bad as the 2010 series means yet another 5-0 is on the cards

The likes of Crawley, Pope and Archer (who I think has massively flattered to deceive throughout his test career when he’s been fit) will also likely have to be moved on.

And there’s not much coming through.

How you getting to assess the body language? You talking about all the players or just certain ones?

I'm looking at lack of chat in the field, lack of encouragement, lack of intensity. I'm watching Atkinson walk back to his run up looking dejected. Matt Prior addressed it earlier as well. Jacks bowls a dot first and second ball and nothing from the fielders. Root and Stokes earlier seemed to have some intensity but even that is fading. Archer half arsed with a catching attempt earlier didn't really display any sort of intensity. It's just rank bad
