Northern trains

If you use a website called real time trains you can actually see what set is being used for what time you need to travel. It'll tell you how many coaches there are what unit numbers they are and which formation they are in. If it's a 2 car you'll know to go get the bus instead of hoping for a 4.
Yeah, I’ve been using that site for all the info since this thread started mate 😂

If your waiting north of Hartlepool the train is rammed and been on the platform at least 15 mins, no sign of moving
Woman kicking off as she can’t get her disabled daughter on train
4 staff all shitting themselves unable to make a decision
Held an absolutely packed train for 20 minutes
Don’t know why they didn’t just offer to book them a taxi and sort it quickly and easy

Wondered what was happening as couldn’t see from where we are sitting

Would have worked out cheaper for em as well as now we can claim on delay repay as will be well over 15 mins late now

If she's booked assistance and the train staff hadn't prepared then it's bad on their part but if she's just rocked up and took them by surprise then it can create scenarios like this. Maybe she's not a regular train user and didn't know about assistance? Can only speculate.

10:57 from Seaton was choka. No seats on a 4 carriage train.

No one could get on from Horden
Disgraceful tonight. 18:07 couldn't get on. Managed to get on 19:07. All 15 min delayed.

Platforms full. 2 carriages. Loads of people couldn't get on. Bairns getting squashed.

"Not enough trains"

Reckon they'd have found them if we were black n white.

I’ve seen this thread before, was on my way back from Liverpool today only reason I was on it, got on at thornaby and it was rammed full of 18 year old lasses going to Newcastle on the drink. By the time it got to Hartlepool you couldn’t move.
How they don’t put extra trains on, even just for a Saturday is beyond me.
Bearing in mind there were boro fans getting on, Hartlepool and our lot too.

Yep 6pm train pulled uo
No one got in despite a rammed platform and spoke to some who had been there an hour already as the 5pm was cancelled
7pm not much better but ‘elbows out’ and literally pushed people down the carriage to get more on

Was proper Squashed in, feel sorry for kids/oldies as it was v uncomfortable

Uber surge prices £80 for taxi as well so left with no options

We had to pay 64 quid for an Uber to Teesside cos couldn’t get on the 18:01 at all . Will be sending the bill to northern

1st train cancelled, 2nd couldn't get on. 3rd left so late it missed the connection to York and was so packed they were 8 people in the toilet and the conductor had to hand one of the passengers the driver cab key so people could create some space for him to get to other door. Thornaby to York was then 30 minutes late. Took me four and half hours to reach York.

Why the fook do Northern only put 2 carriages on?

Shambles of a day by the sounds of it.

It’s ridiculous how they are just allowed to get away with it.
The one from our group who comes up from Horden couldn’t get on so had to get a lift up, said the platform was rammed. They really are f***ing idiots Northern Rail.

I was stood in that bit where they opened the cab so the conductor could pass through, absolutely rammed. Didn’t realise it was an express so wouldn’t stop at Billingham. Had to get off at Hartlepool and get a taxi home from there.

Got the 12:50 from Billingham, was rammed too, lots going to Newcastle for Xmas parties. Some people didn’t even get on at Billingham, the platform was the busiest I’ve seen it

How are they allowed to get away with this week after week? Christmas time is always busier on this line too!

Move tagged Sunderland MP and G Morris in the tweet. Doubt they’ll be able to do anything though.

With the mags being a Sunday, hopefully it’s not too bad getting there.

On the way back will be horrific

I stay to the end of the match, and with the various stoppages during the game, I fully expected to miss my intended train home (17:30pm GC) and was looking to get either of the 17:49 or 18:01 trains.

I went to get a post match pint in the Three Storeys, but service at the bar was far too slow (as usual) so I gave up & went to the train station and luckily, the 17:30 GC was still at the platform, and when I got seated, I was told the 18:01 Northern Train was being cancelled.
Do you need a ticket to get on the platform at Hartlepool mate? I’d be tempted to risk just not paying
Yes, you need a ticket to get on the platform at Hartlepool, as there's ticket gates ahead of the platform, which are manned by BR staff.

Another highlight yesterday was the older platform worked laughing and shouting “good luck” as a train rolled in about half six. Just what you want to hear.

Trains were a shambles yesterday. Couldn't get on the 7pm train. Only two carriages. Squeezed onto the 8pm train. Was ridiculously crowded. Then stopped in hartlepool for an absolute age. Someone reckoned someone had passed out on the train. No idea if true or not.

But either way that meant I missed my connection at thornaby to northallerton. Left the pub at 6:40pm. Got home well after 11pm. Ridiculous. And 24 quid for a single ticket which is also ridiculous.
