That comment by Campbell is very telling imo. It smacks of arrogance which imo permeated down to the playing and the rest of the coaching staff to the effect that everyone thought they were safe / too good and seemingly werent prepared to put in the graft , particularly when the going got tough.
I seem to remember that he made similar cocky comments prior to T20 QF which Hampshire took great motivation from and subsequently they took great delight in the beating they gave us.
I doesnt sound as if Campbell has been humbled by our shocking end to the season ( in all comps ) when really he very much should be

Then again he could be going for an unprecedented hat trick of petulant strops at recent Members Meetings. The first of course was his fury and then convenient early departure when the guy asked for a show of hands of those who had been consulted about the proposed changes to the Championship and then at last month's offering when the steam was coming from his ears after his motion had been defeated and he accused counties of ' living in cloud cuckoo land' and that if things didn't change then the County Championship ' would be no better than the Minor Counties Championship in 5-7 years'

Unlike last year there was no management in attendance, hosted by Ash Thorpe. Hollie Armitage and Harriet Robson had a brief chat about pre - season training. Aldridge and Bailey were up next - the latter said his bowling hadn't gone quite as planned last season but one of the reasons he joined us was to work under Onions who he described as 'one of the best bowling coaches in the country' (there may have been a few coughs at this point from some of the members). Both said it was noticeably colder up here which could have been them throwing their hats in the ring to become Sky cricket commentators when they retire.
After that it just seemed to be a Q & A session with Vic and his fellow groundsman Baz the Beard. Vic was his usual straight talking self.
So no one for us to ask about how our recruitment is going or not going as the case may be.
