Sunderland music thread

What a brilliant gig from Reverend and the Makers tonight.

Capped off by a cracking acoustic set from the main man outside rhe Independent post gig.
Cracking night. We saw them at the Stadium when they supported the Chilli Peppers, we were also debating if we had seen them another time, maybe sunniside live around 2018 time but couldn’t remember for sure.

Saw on their Facebook page someone comment about them going outside at a previous gig so I was half expecting that to happen.

They might have done RHCP, but was it not Oasis you’re thinking of? Was these, Enemy, Kasabian then Oasis. Pretty sure Sunniside Live was ‘18, it was the day we beat Sweden 2-0. Nice hot Saturday!

It was 100% them, they asked last know who saw them at the stadium. I think they might have been first on.

Yes that is the day we are thinking of for sunniside live. We remember the football but couldn’t remember which bands where on.

Me and my Mrs were talking about whether they'd supported rhcp, they did and Oasis. I think rhcp was the one he was talking about last night when it pissed it down

Sunniside Live was Lightening Seeds & Cast apparently. Remember the Lightening Seeds, but not Cast. Surprised to think that Lightening Seeds were higher on the bill than Cast too

They did an acoustic set at Pop Recs and Jon McClure played some songs outside across the road to the venue post gig.

I also saw Jon busking outside the Bridges the day after the Oais gig.

Somebody take these Tune Yards tickets off him man!

I'm going to have to start a thread if nobody takes them soon!
I’m not that into their actual records, but they’re absolutely top of their game live.

Fantastic night. Might be one of my favourite gigs of the year.

Aye, really good stuff. Enjoyed the 3 young uns supporting them anarl, Swindled.

Bizarrely, considering the fact that I do try and get out to the occasional gig, that was my first visit to Independent! Quite impressed with the set up, apart from the bar - dreadful options!

Another first last night was a pre-gig visit to Koji as I'd read about the 20% discount if you have tickets for Independent! Great ramen and spicy cocktails. Will definitely be back (to both).

I’ve only done a couple in there to be fair. They were upstairs though, so I didn’t realise there was a venue that size downstairs. Good set up, but you’re right about the bar. I think they mainly target students for club nights, but seem to have upped their game attracting a few decent bands recently
