Ashes Watching Plans

Off to bed a bit earlier Thursday night then up for the start, will aim to watch the first session then probably back to bed with headphones and TMS on.

One of the great sporting calendar moments the start of an Ashes series so no way im missing it.

WFH Thursday/Friday's so planning on getting as much sleep as I can before each day starts. Can't wait for it now and I do think we have a great chance!
I can only see it going one of two ways.

A 3-2 win to us or a 5-0 win to them.

I reckon if all our players turn up from the first ball, we're capable of getting a big win under our belt to kick things off. If everybody in the team plays well we can be a formidable side after all. Get that early momentum and we'll have a good chance.

Or we field first, they put 500 on in a day and a half, skittle us for 150 and we never recover.

Have Friday and Monday off work so will watch all of the Perth test and will get up early for the Brisbane day nighter.

Will play it by ear for the final 3 tests depending on how it’s all going. Usually can do the first sessions quite easily, but staying up through a lunch break at 0200 sorts the men from the boys!

I'll be able to watch most of the first test, off work foe the duration. I'll probably watch the first session of day 1 just to see how it goes, rest of them I'll have an early night and get up early.
2nd test I'm at work for the duration, hoping we do a few nightshifts as can just watch with no comms whilst on watch and catch up on sleep through the day.
3rd test I'll get the first couple of days before going back to work.
4th test I''ll catch the last day.
5th test I'm off for the lot but head to work the day after it finishes. Hoping my sleeping pattern isn't completely fucked!

I think I’ll set my alarm for 02:00 on Friday, I want to see the toss and the build-up once we know who’s batting first. I’m off on Friday so there’s a good chance I’ll atleast try to watch the entirety of Day 1. After that, it depends how well we play.

I'll set my alarm for 5, check cricinfo and if they are getting pumped I'll go back to sleep. Hopefully it's better than the last time in Aus when most of us would have stayed up till midnight only to see Rory Burns getting yorked round his legs first ball
Still not sure wtf he was doing there!

Was absolutely pathetic. Should have gone for 4 easy

Me and the missus have flown over to Perth (via 2 nights in Kuala Lumpur, Petronas Towers and all) for 2 days at the first test :D

The rationale was we're getting nee younger (60+); it's a bucket list item; and (after a number of deaths of mates and family - some not very old ), you do wonder how long you might have left...

If anyone had told me at the time that the two kids from the collieries (me and my bro) listening to Ashes cricket from down under on the radio, before school in the 1970s, would actually attend an England game in Australia, we'd have thought there was as much chance of that as going to the moon! We are meeting up with my bro and his missus to all attend the game. Honestly, I feel like a bairn at Christmas!

We did a sunset guided climb of the stadium roof yesterday, which was fantastic. The stadium is absolutely incredible. There's loads of build up on the TV and the local media is full of propaganda - eg below. I can't wait!

Have the best time. Great to read this

Far from ideal for people at home, but the Perth test is ideal for people on AEDT! Means that I can watch most of the day’s play each day. Can’t wait now. Got to win the first test IMO; if we don’t beat them on the surface we have been preparing for with two of their gun bowlers ruled out then it’s going to be a tough tour.
