Ashes Squad 2025

Pope with 100 and 90 in the practice game.

Unsure if this is a good thing or not as he normally starts off well then falls off a cliff!

Players getting runs can only be a good thing. If he’d got 10 & 5 we’d be saying how shite he is and needs replacing.

He’s going to play, so let’s just hope he does so well.

Aussie record at the Perth stadium is 4 wins and 1 loss.

They won the toss and batted first in all 4 wins

First digs from the Aussies in those wins
326
416
598
487

The outlier being their loss last year where India chose to bat scored 150 then Bumrah rattled them out for 105

Then India went and posted 487/6 and won the game

So who knows what to expect could be a road first up or a minefield.

Although it is good news for England, it's a bit of a shame for the series that Australia's two best bowlers are missing the first test. Youneant the best players available during the series although I know that won't be a popular opinion.

Nothing bad happening to these lot would be a shame, within reason like.

I reckon they’ll be desperately trying to make it into a road now, with the intention of it leading to a high scoring pitch (400+ for both sides) and try to get out of it with a draw.

There’s been question marks over their batting order, but you’d back Smith & Lasagne to get plenty runs and England are prone to falling apart.

Their batting depth looks short as well long tail.

Although really concerned about Carey he looks a very stubborn cricketer who gets runs when needed
Khawaja, Laubschagne, Smith and Head all have feasted on us in Aus. So hard to not fear that.

The first 3 been in decent nick in the Shield which is a worry.

Yeah hard to know how it will go, Laubschagne looks like back in form and Head and Smith obviously top top class.

Khawaja not soo sure about him seems form on downward trend.

Think 6-11 for them looks weaker than ours.

Why would we play a first class game prior to the tour the team have been building up to for years? That’s a mental suggestion that
I think the only reason it’s not first class is that it’s 12 or 13 a side (I can’t quite work out which from the scorecard). It seems to meet all the other criteria. I’m not sure that’s really material to its value as a warmup match either way.

Why it's so hard to know what to expect from this series

Will they make pitches better and it will be more like previous tours. Or will it play like it has in recent Aus seasons and more of a lottery.

Our bowlers probably not the right style if like the last 2 years and then our batsman will struggle too.

I think we know it won’t be a pudding that has never hosted a professional game anyway.

No, I don't think it is either. Ideally they should be playing Sheffield Shield sides packed full of Aussie who know how to play in those conditions and who play with typical Aussie stubbornness. But I guess that wasn't an option.
