Ashes Squad 2025

He’s also a bowler

Surely we want our batsmen to face the best bowlers? (Whilst also allowing our best young batsmen to be tested against them)
I think we're going on about different things.

My comment that got quoted was that our spinning options selected for the Ashes were getting carted.

Which they did till Bethell got a bowl and got the best econ rate of all 15 bowlers. But he hadn't bowled when I posted that.

That’s fine. It’s baffling they’re not giving him a bowl when they’re getting carted however.

Aye they've definitely gone off him as a red ball bowler in the England setup.

Don't get it. He's got more FC wickets than Jacks/Bethell combined
Well nevermind all that shite. Poor lad is injured @chunkyshanhawk53

Shame as would have been a really good opportunity for him to showcase his improvements in both aspects of his game.

Who will they bring in as a replacement?
Neser already been brought in.

Couldn't be a better chance for us to win a test them missing their two best bowlers.

Also here's a scorecard to Lions game. Crawley and Duckett both go cheaply today.

McKinney and Cox with dual 50s in the game. 70 for Bethell and Pope going well again

@chunkyshanhawk53 I missed that Rehan got 90 in first dig! Seems like Cricinfo had the scorecard wrong for day 1 they had him out for 14!

Although it is good news for England, it's a bit of a shame for the series that Australia's two best bowlers are missing the first test. Youneant the best players available during the series although I know that won't be a popular opinion.

Ideally it would be best xi v best xi. Thing is, England are so plagued by injuries that this will never happen so I am celebrating the Australian injuries.

We lost last time in Australia when they were without Cummins and Hazelwood.

Let's hope we're not going to make that mistake again
