Ashes Squad 2025

My take is that if both sides are at full strength, there's not much between them

My two worries are obviously our bowlers ability to make ith throught the series with injury. More worringly is our mental attitude. Seeing as we now don't even seem to be able to focus for the length of an ODI, I question whether they can concentrate and bat appropriately for the circumstances. Would anyone bet against us winning the toss in Perth, batting and being 20/2 in the first half hour?

I agree mate, thats my main worry....Treating a 5 day test as you would treat a limited overs game, trying to score as quickly as possible....youve got 2 sodding days to cement an innings ffs!..Why go mad?, be a bit circumspect

Yup. They aren’t flying home for 7 days. Plenty golf pencilled in.
The did fly home for 7 days -only arrived in Perth on Sunday. Lord ITB is perfectly correct.-"Lack of preparation both unprofessional and bordering on arrogance"
"The last group of England’s players only arrived in Perth on Sunday, less than two weeks before the start of the first Test on 21 November"-Guardian

Root may have and one or two others, the bowlers have been there for over a week.

Strong choice of words. I hope they don't come back to bite him.
He’s right in some regard. When could they have played a Sheffield shield side? Cricket Australia fudged the schedule so they couldn’t and couldn’t play at the WACA. Meanwhile counties bend over backwards to accommodate Australian test players during a home Ashes.

In the warm up game v the Lions there's only been 26 overs so far according to BBC which suggests either they are behind on scoring or there has been some rain.

116/2 to the Lions. McKinney 67 n.o.

More importantly Woody has been bowling.

204/5 in 51 overs.

Slightly worryingly no wickets for Archer and Wood. 4 for Stokes!

TBH I'm not too worried about Wood not taking wickets today. I'm just hoping he gets through the match without breaking down again. It's been a long time for him to play again.
