Prime Xhaka vs Tonali?

Tonali has had serious off field issues which has no doubt affected his game, could they rear there head again yes they could addiction is always there.
So for his age he is a slow starter.
1 good season in premier league, just getting into regular games for Italy now
he has 25 caps, when similar aged players have 3 times as many.
He can only hope to reach the standards Xhaka has maintained for numerous years.
Premier league current stats show Xhaka as the better player.

As much as I love xhaka I’m not quite sure about that like

Tonali is an absolute monster of a midfielder

He will move to a huge club before long.

Were them stays for the league 😳😳

I thought that was just for us
I probably wasn't listening or watching closely enough. I'm not really one for watching build ups that closely but I did enjoy listening to KLD.

Tonali is very good but Xhaka has been and continues to be better than Tonali.

When Xhaka was the same age as Tonali he had won domestic leagues abroad, twice won the FA Cup at Arsenal, played in 3 major tournaments with his country and was captain of one of the biggest clubs in England.

The fact Xhaka has gone to a side who were firm favourites to be relegated and dragged us by the scruff of the neck to where we are now at 32 (now 33 years of age) says it all.

Tonali wouldn't have had that impact, and that's before you even start comparing them at Xhaka's prime!
Different type of players for a start. Better than Tonali so far, after 25% of the season at Sunderland. Ok fair enough.
Prime Xhaka, for me, being his last season at Arsenal and first in Germany. At that time he was one of the best in Europe.

Careful on being so reliant on stats. Those stats will tell you, I assume, that Xhaka is better than almost every MF player in the league.
He is very good. Thats not a debate. He isn’t the best in the league though.

Tonali’s superb and so is Xhaka. If I was the Mags I’d say Tonali but I don’t watch Xhaka enough; if I’m us I’m saying Xhaka but I don’t watch Tonali enough. Seems like they’re of a similar level.
If you don’t watch tonali enough how do you know he’s superb ?

I don't give a shit. We need to stop giving a shit. This kind of pap ends up all over that deluded rtg shite.

Couldn't care less what happens to Tonali and at the same time I'm really enjoying watching having Xhaka in our team. He's perfect for us, regardless of if people think he's better or not.
All of this, and especially this.

Everything else is irrelevant.

I guess I’m just hinting at how pointless it all is. Tonali v Xhaka?

Mags are gonna think Tonali is better
Lad fans are gonna think Xhaka is better

Earth shattering stuff.

Personally while sat watching some of the shite served up to us in league one I would never in a million years have sat in the stadium and imagine one day soon we’ll have Xhaka bossing our midfield and scoring a goal to take us to 4th in the premier league.

Couldn’t give 2 fucks about Tonali I’m just here to enjoy the good times while I can.

Prime Xhaka vs Dylan McGeouch is a much more entertaining question.

From what I have seen and heard that is my view based on an admittedly smaller sample size than is my view of Xhaka. Both seem superb, but I feign no hypothesis on the superber of the two.

Guess thats that one put to bed.
It has overall, But if the stats were divided by minutes played, alot of them would be much closer. However Xhaka is the better player, he was a mainstay in the Arsenal team, then an unbeaten Leverkusen team, and now he has got us at the top end of the table

Saw a stat yesterday of Granit v Tonali based on this season, covering about 15 different areas and Xhaka came out on top in every single one but pass accuracy.

And it didn't include distance covered either

I saw this stat yesterday!

Sunderland 4th - 18pts

Newcastle 13th - 12pts
