Slot - could he be in trouble?

Would imagine the players will be affected by the loss of Jota. At the same time, in hindsight it was probably a bad time to overhaul the squad like he did. They've spent £450m on players who are coming in to a dressing room in mourning. Something like that happening would deeply impact the players and possibly bring them closer together through the shared grief then you've got new players coming in who weren't part of that. Must be strange.

Also, they had a poor season the year after they won the league last time. It was kind of just excused as being part of the Covid madness and they went on to lose the league by a point the following year but maybe the intensity of how much the fans live and breathe it takes it out of them?

Don't think he's under massive pressure yet as you have to just accept the league is probably gone but they're still in the Champions League and can go again next year. But there'll come a point if they keep losing where they'll have to make a decision.

If they lose 2 or 3 of the next 4 he’ll be on the edge I think. Fairly rare in the modern era for the current champions to be losing this many domestic games on the trot.

I just can’t see a club like Liverpool putting up with 7 defeats in 8.

They do normally give teams time, but they dont normally go on losing runs like this.
Fully agree mate. If they weren’t defending champions then I could see them letting it slide but if they want to stay in the top 5 they’re gonna have to make a drastic change. I don’t think slot is 100% to blame though, they just haven’t made good signings or decisions

Spoke to a Liverpool fan on holiday earlier this week and asked him for his take.
Jota, was his reply. Salah in particular is really struggling.

I think that’s a big part of it, coupled with too much change and failing to strengthen their defence.
Not like Liverpool fans to have an excuse, when things don't go their way.
Am sure losing a colleague and friend is very sad, but it is a flimsy excuse for their terrible run of form.
Last season they had very few injuries, with no serious competition as Arsenal bottled it (again) and City rebuilding.
Slot is coming out with silly excuses and is disrespecting the cup competitions with weak starting teams and resting their better players.
Add to the fact that VVD & Salah are looking past their best, I think they will struggle to get top 4...

To be fair like Slot hasn’t used Jota as an excuse. I think most Liverpool fans probably accept it’s a combination of reasons:
Biggest one being transition of squad - big changes and whichever way you look at it the new signings have failed to settle quickly.

TAA and Diaz and the energy they bring look badly missed.

Salah is way off it at the moment but if he does get it back, it chances the outlook for them quite quickly.
