I think we all know the 3 date and time changes anyway now

They normally change website before they announce it, but not this time

Man City January 1st 8pm
Tottenham January 4th 3pm
Brentford January 7th 7.30pm

Fucking cunts

Can someone talk me through the premier leagues explanation of their boxing day schedule?

Weve got less weekends to work with now therefore we can only have 1 game on boxing day and it must kick off at 8pm

Eh??

Theyve also given assurances that there'll be more games next boxing day as its a saturday. Does that mean the traditional boxing day schedule will now only happen if boxing day is a Saturday??

Something about having to fill so many tv slots / weekend games into the season for the telly companies or some such with the new deal iirc

But all clubs get their games fucked about with, that mags game on boxing day looks horrendousand man City travelling north on nyd,if anything they should keep it geographically close for the terrible travel days like boxing and nyd
They do but if we didn’t have sky and we didn’t have games fucked about we’d just have what we had pre-Premier League

Not quite. There’s a contractual obligation that (I think) 33 of the 38 match days must fall on a weekend with the other 5 in midweek. With Boxing Day falling on a Friday it would class as midweek, and exceed the obligation, so they’ve had to revert to the standard weekend billing of Friday Night, Saturday, Sunday games. Hence only one game on Boxing Day.

Between August and December they waste 6 weeks with international games, that surely needs changing

Unless you have a time machine its not going back to those days. If clubs clamour for more and more money to effectively pay players every increasing wages this is the price to be paid for that

Yep most of the international games are a waste of time anyway not learning anything playing European minnows in pointless friendlies.

Surely an exception can be made for boxing day given they could kick off at 3pm regardless of what day of the week it is?

Usual lack of common sense running through the powers that be.

In 10 years people will be yearning for what we have now, compared to whats coming.
