Club loan taken out

Whoever comes in will definitely have to fit in with the ethos of the team.
I don't think I've seen a togetherness in a group of players fighting for each other for many a year.
Long may it continue!!!

It’s a squad game, but we also like bringing people in for the future.

Massoaku doesn’t seem up to it, and Cirkin is always injured and untested at this level. I wouldn’t be surprised if we brought in another LB.

CB I think we’re fairly well stocked.

RB we have Hume & Mukiele.

We’ve got loads of left wingers, but I think we need to bolster the options on the right. We only have Traore and he’s still finding his feet and not been great yet.

Our central midfield options are Xhaka, Sadiki, Diarra, Rigg, Neil and Le Fee. I think there’s an obvious improvement that can be made from that list.

Up front we’ve got Isidor, Mayenda & Brobbey. I can see us adding a 4th striker.
Except that the money taken now from football's Payday Loan Company is money the club will not have to spend in the summer, so there is then a shortfall for next season, and so the debt merry go round begins and even more money in payday loans is needed next season etc

But signing someone in January could be the difference between 3 places in the league, which means it’s paid for itself.

As long as GOM says it’s all OK, then I’m happy with that.

It strikes me that people who see issues here make parallels to “normal” people’s lives and just can’t accept that us mortals know nowt about high finance.

I remember when they started to paint the SoL and the was interpreted in here as “You always give the house a lick of paint before you put it on the market” so we just be selling.

Remember most figures you see in football are spread over time. I’ve seen football club accounts for transfer fees, you’d be surprised how much is left outstanding from the initial instalment. The “220m for winning the play off final” is three years and a minimum figure. The TV money in the accounts is spread over instalments over the season.

So, now its borrowing money to gamble with. That is normally the way to financial ruin

Gambling is dangerous enough without borrowing the money to gamble.

Your scenario may mean that the extra 3 places higher ( if it happens) pays off the cost of the loan, it doesn't however replace the money you have spent now, so you do not have it for next season. The club will not earn enough money to pay the cost of the loan and to replace the funds it has taken early

You can't spend the same pot of money twice. If it is spent this season, then there is a shortfall in the money for next season

Wish people would trust the ownership who have proven over several years that they don't take financial risks. They know what they're doing.

Wonder if we could go back in for Real Madrid striker Garcia again even if only on loan.

Don’t think he started one la liga game this season

Release clause is in excess of £40m so I doubt we will sign him outright

You’re talking absolute nonsense. We’re effectively brining forward a payment due to us in April to have it now.

I'm confused by some replies to this thread, so here's a genuine question to @Grumpy Old Man

Have the current owners of SAFC, by their actions to date, given any indication that they don't know what they are doing when it come to financial matters?

TIA

None whatsoever. The club is better run now than at any point in my time supporting us (60 years and counting)
BUt paying a shitload of interest??

It's essentially a 4 month loan - we basically get the PL payments we would have got from the PL between now and April now, and pay the loan off as they come in. Those four instalments are probably around £30m. Four months interest at 10% will be less than £1m, given the balance will owed will reduce month by month. Peanuts in the context of PL money.
