David Bedingham

Given the amount of games hes played this season it's almost like he already has.

Seriously though I think he may go anyway. SA will probably want him to rest as much as possible now he's an established test player.

I hope we are just flexible with him, even if it is for limited games, we still won't get a better overseas player, he has bought into the club, unlike the many we have who turn up for 1 game

I'd cut Bedders a bit of slack. When you have very good players in at your club you are going to lose them to the national teams. It's inevitable. Ideally we really want good players just below that level, e.g Rushy, Onions and John Hastings!

Campbell said on the stream last week he was desperate to play in the One Day Cup.

The club seem the ones hell bent on not picking him in the Blast for last few years and now this competition.

His form has gone backwards in the Test arena too so he's not even a guaranteed starter there now.

He's worth his weight in gold and we should be doing everything to keep him at the club playing all 3 formats.

Fact is though Bedders has a central contract with South African Cricket who will dictate his availability for Durham which will at best be limited. Given our weak bowling resources would we not be better served with two overseas bowlers?

Drissell has more runs than him in the CC this season from the same amount of innings.

A really disappointing season from him in the limited time he's been available. Hopefully he scores a ton next week.

Do people have any inkling whether he will be staying on next season? As no news on his future as of yet with his deal ending this year.

With South Africa having 0 test matches scheduled in 2026 until October he should be fully available. You'd hope back to his best for us if he is staying.

Im sure someone posted on the match thread that North confirmed he is here next year at yesterday's Q&A.

Cheers found it

Well fingers crossed the "hope "North has means he signs a new deal.

I'd hope he plays every game in all 3 formats, get him signed up and make him loved in all 3. Instead of looking elsewhere for an overseas player in the Blast.

Overseas players in the Blast have been underwhelming in recent years to say the least.Utilise Bedders and look for some up and coming bowler with something to prove rather than hasbeens on a final paypacket who are guaranteed to break down.

Foulkes I thought was largely good but obviously it's an issue picking anyone who isn't going to be available for the whole thing.

Neesham was a mixed bag as he was our top wicket taker and his 50* at Northants won us the game. But his spell against Hampshire ultimately lost us the game, he bowled plenty of half track crap throughout his time and was expensive. He also didn't do enough with the bat in most games.

But then Lees could have easily not kept Neesham bowling too!

Foulkes bowling was effective and his late call up for New Zealand couldn't have been foreseen.
Neesham was brought in as a batting finisher and 1 50 and a aggregate of 200+ was unsatisfactory and economy rate not wickets is how a bowler should be judged in T20-his ER was 9.40
