Sheff Wed - financial issues

IF I went to the bank and asked to borrow 200 million Quid to buy Sunderland - the Bank would laugh.
A Businessman and especially one from overseas, pitches up at the same bank - and the Bank are happy to facilitate the deal and provide a line of credit.

At ground level we have checks and balances, but at higher levels the corruption is nearly total and I feel sorry for the Wednesday fans, but this is happening everywhere today and not sure the corrupt FA can seriously do anything.

Its happened to other clubs, there can't be a special case because of any one club in particular, and tbh honest, it would be a bit shameful if Wednesday had got away with it.
There are local businesses that willlose money, club sponsors etc...So you take it on the chin.
Fans of Bury etc had to, and its absolutely not the fault of any supporter of any club when it happens..tho its the supporters that suffer.
anyhow...next 3 or 4 years are gonna be sheeite..and I'm now off to the horse and Jockey, then a game where I can wear a blue and white shirt again, and not have to spin round and turn me back on 10 minutes to show Chansiri i loathe him...(mind,turning round and not facing the pitch could be an option with whats coming up for a bit)...but...been crap for a quarter of a century...whats 3 or 4 more years??

The next 3 or 4 years could also be exciting ktf

Ashley would fail the owners test, he must of been the worst ever owner in English football the way he treated Newcastle 🤔🤔🤔 only spending what club could afford
For a self made business billionaire that he allegedly didn’t do due diligence before he bought the club was staggering
However my understanding without his putting his hand in his pocket they would have gone under. The wage bill and unpaid transfer fees were out of control compliments Freddie and Doug…the dog botherers!
In the end he was trying to get some of his money back
Not defending him but the reality is his owner predecessors are the ones upon whom the description worst owner should be attributed.

Not that I know your history or want to see your bank account but do you have anything close to millions in assets? These foreign owners get the bank loans because they have something behind them, I agree they get more than they should but that happens every day with a mortgage in this country.

Really the fact that probably less than 10% of football clubs in the top 4 divisions make a profit is the issue. Good luck getting players to accept less or fans happy being in league 1 mid table with average players. Fans love an owner when they are spending their money, they only dislike them when they stop, very few see the club as a business but that’s what they have become now. Unless the fans by it and then run it and find it as their passion hobby instead.

Mike Ashley?
I'd take him over the nutter we had, I dunno quite what Newcastle fans wanted, well obviously it was a state takeover..so virtually buying trophies...going well that is it?
Ashley would be a hell of coup for you, if you could stand the "Sports Direct Hillsborough Stadium" he'd have you in the premier league in 5 years
An absolute twat of a human being but knows how to run a football club

Not sure about PL in 5 years like. Might be stretching it a bit considering the state they're in.

I was on about the deluded up the road. His running of the club is how a lot of clubs esp smaller fanbase types should be run.

Wonderful atmos at the beginning, 2-0 down..I think it sank in what a bloody shambles we were , Oxford aren't that good, but the ovation Wednesday got at the end had me filling up....Gonna be long, gonna be hard, but the fanbase won't disappear...

BTW...great result for your lads

The video of the scoreboard was great and no doubt got an emotional response from the fans.
Last season we had Til the End which got us fired up, and hopefully this will be the start of a new era for you. Although relegation looms large after the points deduction, next summer and next season could see you return.

I accept we are down mate, no choice, and fully deserved because we were led by a reckless know nowt, a gambler with no plan...and we ALL accepted it at the start, near miss out on promotion to the Prem, then...simply down, prices hiked to extraordinary levels, millions spaffed on players even me grandkids knew were not good enough..and far too many fans clapped it on.
A bloke who single handedly got us relegated to league1, by cheating andselling the ground back to himself, then going up on Mackems shirtails theseason after you dragged yerselves outta that pit that we are heading back into.
Then sacked moore, then set on Munez, who had us 9 points adrift in the league ..then got Rohl, who worked a miracle to keep us up...Then p*ssed him off after a litany of false promises.
So then Owls fans bought season tickets at Prem prices..at sodding Christmas!!!...Then he spaffed that...Honestly there are very few setsof football fans that do sodding somersaults cos they have just gone into admin, but losing Chansiri..is worth EVERY bit of it

I think your timescales are about right and things will eventually turn and I wish you boys all the luck..... On suggestions to stop this happening and i would argue its eradicating ego at the top. Run the clubs as a business and the FA and HMRC should be tightening the screw on every club and maybe its time for an audit of every club.

It was less than 4 years ago that we lost 6-0 in league one to Bolton (in , imo, our worst ever result in our history) and I thought we would never compete at the top level again. Ever.
Miracles happen. Sheff wed are a great club , great support. This is probably/ hopefully your rock bottom.
Keep the faith
