You just beat me to it. Be interesting to see if there's any change of captaincy at Durham after their "thorough review".Fair, but presumably not as captain.
Or as designated runner.Fair, but presumably not as captain.
When he’s 2 stone overweight?Or as designated runner.
^^^^ This 100%Fair, but presumably not as captain.
I was told mid Summer that it was a certainty that Lowe was the next cab off the rank if John was stepping down, as was expected. Be amazed if it wasn't Lowe. Not a bad shout that. I played against the academy last year and he was their ‘11th man’. He fielded and came into bat 11, just like what John used to do when the academy had a team in the premier league
Canny each way mateI was told mid Summer that it was a certainty that Lowe was the next cab off the rank if John was stepping down, as was expected. Be amazed if it wasn't Lowe.
Agree with all that and especially the last point.Just to get my say on that collapse at Leeds. As I went down for the game
Was one of the worst sporting days I’ve been at
Cricket is such a mental sport and it’s interesting reading some of the comments inferring that they don’t just care. I mean that is just not true
It was a batting line frozen with the fear of failure, lacking confidence to bat normally and in their technique, who completely went into their shell
A few shots came out near the end which look even worse, but that was Raine really wasn’t it who had a good game
Theres a lot of theories on here about ourcshite season, our bowling recruitment was terrible I agree, Campbell, north etc, who I think probs needs to move on at some point
But at the end of the day we have a stacked batting lineup, who we beat off competition to sign a lot of, and they just didn’t deliver over a course of a season. We really didn’t need much more to stay up.
I’ve made my feelings clear for years , even when we were great Under Campbell…..that Durham exists to develop cricketers in tge region, that’s why we were granted first class status.
Itw possible we are going through a period of some lack of talent, however we have also produced McKinney recently, Hogg, and have 4 bowlers in an ashes tour. Killeen should have been playing though, and that is a cock up
I have no problem with Durham being 2nd div if half the side minimum are local.
Hard agree.I have no problem with Durham being 2nd div if half the side minimum are local
Hard agree.
For some reason the team leadership don't fancy our young players and a load of ostensibly good, but unsettled, players were brought in who failed to perform. John Windows seems to have had enough, or jumped before he was pushed, but I'd be looking closer to the first team because those young bowlers were all quality when they first stepped up. Even Potts has been poor since Onions came in, he needs to go.
.
Also I'd love to know who though Callum Parkinson and George Drissell were first division spinners. Parkinson couldn't get in the Leicestershire first XI and Drissell is just a poor man's Liam Trevaskis.

Sorry, didn't see that interview. You are a bit out of order saying "John Windows seems to have had enough, or jumped before he was pushed", if you watch his recent interview he has MS and isn't fit to work anymore

I have a mental picture that you were sat at Headingley comatose because of what you were watching and only came round yesterday. It seemed to be that sort of day.Just to get my say on that collapse at Leeds. As I went down for the game
