Rightmove Voyeurism

I saw this house being built on a green field site in the 1980s - apparently the owner was in his early 20s and had just made his fortune in the city.

In the mid-90s I was driving past one night to see police and an ambulance attending my neighbour's car after he crashed through the fence and hedge right next to the tower part of the house. My neighbour was still in the car with what looked like his brains spattered all over the interior. I thought he was a goner. It was actually his Indian takeaway. He had serious leg injuries, but eventually recovered.

I'd never seen inside the house until now. Some interesting ideas, but it doesn't quite come together as a unified whole.

I see what you mean. Being U shaped, you have to pass through a lot of rooms to get anywhere. Then you have a small dining room in the opposite corner of the house to the kitchen, but there is a small kitchen next to it. But between that and the drawing room, study/family room, is a bedroom. It feels like all the rooms are thrown into odd places.

Then I never like the open plan kitchen living rooms. Too much heat, noise and humidity in a kitchen. I like the living room and dining room separate so if you have been busy in the kitchen for a few hours the other rooms are a cooler relaxing space. Any you can stick on some music in the kitchen without worrying about someone watching TV.

Yeah I agree and could be made into something very nice

Size of the bedrooms is just class
I like the idea of a balcony off the bedroom to sit up there early morning and look over the garden, getting the first morning light, especially if there is a view from up there.

But in that house it doesn't look to be.

In theory I could do it in my current house. We have a flat roof extension below the bedroom window, but all I would really get would be that because it is a semi and that is the joining wall, we would be sat almost outside the neighbours bedroom window too and have an elevated view of our garden but still not see much else. Another story higher and I might be able to see the sea in the distance!

I'm the opposite, I love an open plan kitchin/living room.

Makes cooking more social, because while you're cooking people can make themselves comfy in the living room but still be in the same space as you. Much nicer than having other people standing around in the kitchen, getting in the way!

I have such a hatred for sloped ceilings!

I'm 6'3 and until I was about 20 lived in a house with sloped ceilings in a few rooms, and I swear to god I lost more than a few IQ smashing my head into them over the years. Just robs you of usable space, and the taller you are the more space it robs!

Last flat I lived in before I moved up here had a balcony off the bedroom and I thought exactly that, it'll be lovely to get out of bed and go get some fresh air and sunlight straight away.

In reality that plan fell flat on day 1 when two things occurred to me:

1) There were about a dozen flats that could see onto my balcony.

2) I sleep naked.

Flashing all of my neighbours first thing in the morning didn't appeal very much!

I can see it if there are people around, but 99% of the time in my house we have me or the missus in the kitchen cooking or clearing up and someone else in the living room doing other stuff like watching telly.

I tend to use my time in the kitchen for singing practice too, or as a warm up before I do some guitar playing and singing. There are a few songs where I just can't hit the higher notes or sustain them for long enough. There is an advantage for the rest of the house having a solid barrier between me doing that and everyone else!

Other half has always loved the look of this one whenever we drive past it...

She's put lottery on for the weekend

A lot of house for the money
BUT

It’s the generic new style in and out.
As someone with an unhealthy house obsession there’s a lot not to like here but first comment still stands
