Depression thread continued...

Got made redundant the other week. Just moved house and got a new car so timing wasn't great

Actually was sensible and spoke to my friends, got some exercise, and used the time productively. (On gardening leave) Seen to be doing ok so far. Haven't drank too much barr a couple nights.

Got a few interviews so hoping to not be out of work long. I think having the house and plenty peace and quiet has helped a fair bit.

Anyone got an experience with Duloxetine?

It worked well for a while, although it did absolutely kill my libido and knocked my energy levels back quite a bit.

After a few months I started getting more side effects, trouble sleeping and really bad headaches, but my doctor had never seen anybody have side effects start after that long so that's not likely to happen with you!
f***ing brilliant seeing things like this and Andys Man Club. Mens mental health has been such a neglected topic for so long that it's great seeing people starting to feel like they can be more open about it.

Have you replaced it with something else
No, i was prescribed with loads of different tablets and also propranolol when i felt an anxiety come on and just take one. I just didn't like how i felt on them confusion and memory loss, still get that now sometimes, i've learned how to control it now. Years ago i had a head scan and went to see a specialist about blood levels and thyroid and what could cause it and depression , i was very low on Vit D so had to go on tablets for a few months and felt a bit better afterwards.
Have you replaced it with something else?
I forgot to say when i was on it i i was told to take it different times, i can't remember which i did first but was told to take it in mornings and before bed

Have you tried them light boxes? Also worth trying vitamin d. Nearly everyone in northern Europe is deficient anyway.
I've seen them aye but I don't know how much it would help. It's not a seasonal thing for me anyway, just gets worse in the winter. Been on SSRIs for basically a decade at this point.

Some people swear by them - worth a go I suppose.

Fair point. I'm not sure how much is physical and how much is mental with me. Or how much the two overlap
I'm sure you'll find something soon mate.
Cheers bud

I studied psychology at university and we had a renowned doctor for our abnormal psychology module.

He was a really really clever bloke, if not a bit of a tosser, but he reckoned depression is a manifestation of physical sickness. Interesting read if you're stuck on the pot for 15 minutes

After more discussions with my AI, I'll be getting my light box out
