SoL To Undergo Multi-Million-Pound Investment Programme

Started to discolour in places I’ve noticed whe I’ve been in early. You look back to when they were put in and they’ve definitely faded since.
They need to create a haphazard pattern with red black and white seats (they do it in some grounds in europe) it reduces the appearence of the fading you get with blocks of the same colour..something like the pattern on this hat!

Mate the exact same thing happened when I posted that trying to take the mick, it did it 6 times and i fixed it, should left it for the craic.

Fully deserved

Easiest solution is to do what most other clubs do and have a fenced off outside area that is open during half time.

Wouldnt have to be permanent fencing , just temporary fencing that is put up during the first half and taken down during the second half .

Yes there's a cost involved but it would be a drop in the ocean for a premier league club , and would mean people could spend more money at half time and stay in their seats longer during the first half

I think every time we are asked for stadium improvements to put to the club I say this, I’m actually amazed SAG haven’t raised any issues with being unable to move freely at half time and the potential for unsafe crushes.

It’s such an easy fix.
Easy to say when it's not our money , but the club will look like a right set of idiots if we go down this season

If we stay up, I think it should be top priority next summer to commit funding to it. But right now, I think they'd be mad

What we will find IF we do go down this or next, is like Leeds, fans don’t want to lose there season tickets for when they expect to come back up.

It would definitely have a big impact on attendances being a lot higher than they were our promotion season.

saturday was no different in the east stand. i leave my seat dot on half time and when you come to the access tunnel its just a wall of bodies, absolute nightmare trying to get onto the councourse to go to the toilets or to a kiosk or to see your mates.

vast majority of people are just stood there trying to drink a pint or eat a pie. if there was space for those people to move out of the way, the entire thing would improve 10 fold

The SOL is up there amongst the worst stadiums for the crush at half time. It’s appalling. I can only think of Leeds, QPR and Burnley that are as bad.

It's another world when you go to a spacious away concourse, where you can move freely at half time. In previous seasons, concourses at Cardiff and Blackburn have felt like Wembley compared to the SOL. As does Boro, when watching from their home end.

Opening the gates to an outside drinking area would seem to be an ideal solution - until people realise they can storm the barriers (Wembley style) to watch the second half for nowt...

I was in one of the posher of the Spurs home sections for Burnley first week of this season. I’m amazed they don’t have those travellators or whatever they’re called to get people around there’s that much room.

An outside the walls section at the SOL would be a permanent tall cage type affair with the bars on it ceiling going back to the walls. Literally a caged box. I mentioned on here a few years back they’re what we need and could be used to park up overnight some mobile club shops that travel the NE on non match days and park up on the main routes to the SOL on match days.

That would look awful in my book!If they are not going to extend the stands it would be a lot cheaper but look somewhat better if they made a walled brick and glass (toughed perspex)affair like an orangery along the east and south stand .it would provide the room and not look like a prison and would stop you getting wet in the depth of winter .

However i firmly believe they will extend the south stand in the next year or two and the east stand if were still have a high demand for seats over the longer term. The concourse is not fit for purpose thats for sure but their focus is establishing us in the prem and most other big ticket price stuff will be put off till that is a reality!

I think the prison aspect would be hilarious.

doesn't need to be anything permanent, as it would block the walls where everyone has their memorial bricks around the outside of the stadium. its pointless doing it permanent, as its only needed for 30 minutes, once every 2 weeks (or 19 times per year).

just have some temporary fencing and employ some lads to put it up during the first half and take it down during the second half. the fencing can be stacked on stillages and moved inside the ground once the crowds have left. takes 5 minutes to put up, we use it every day

Open the doors and let the smokers out.. just keep them fenced in, loads of grounds do it.
