Best sim-only deals

If you want to be on a big 4 network there's some great deals on O2 and Vodafone if you go through Topcashback compare
£8-9 a month for 50ish GB plus cashback on a one year contract

I have a sim only with Smarty. Pay £6 per month with 10 gb and never had a problem. Been with them 2 years. Like you I rarely use any data outside the house.

Get a PAYG O2 classic sim for 20p from ebay if you hardly ever use it, doesn't have any topup requirement after initial topup, just make a call every 6 months to keep it active.

Try U-Switch. I got a sim only deal on there with O2 for £8 a month, which at the time, the same offer was £20-odd via O2 directly.

O2 direct offers are always terrible so you need to go through comparison sites.

Good thing about O2 is that they still do free roaming in the EU.

If you're like me and really hardly ever use your phone outside of Wi-Fi coverage, I've got a 1p sim where you pay 1p per text/minute/Gb of data. It automatically tops up £10 when your credit is running low and I get a top-up email about every three months. Been using it about five years now and not had any bother.

I use 1P mobile £10 for 50Gb - they use EE but it is not throttled so you get the full speed, most of the others that use EE are restricted bandwidth

I was with Lebara and it was terrible. Quickly went back to Three. These small companies might use the big players networks but they are nowhere near as good.
I agree. They’re just letting them have their dregs and that’s obvious. Just pay the extra few quid for peace of mind

Don't they have a minimum spend of £10 credit every 60 days & deduct the balance if not used?

O2 are buggers. My sim only contract is ending but they don’t offer new customer rates to loyal existing customers

I found voxi quite good £12 per month and all your social media, streaming music doesn't come out of your data balance which was quite a lot anyway (75gb on offer at the minute). It goes through Vodafone though so if you have issues with Vodafone then probably no good . 30 day rolling contract

Lebara's partner network is Vodafone, so the signal strength/quality would have been the same as someone on Vodafone.

The radio network is exactly the same.
