Overseas player recruitment 2026

A successful application from the ECB to the Home Office has removed restrictions, freeing up counties looking to recruit for the 2026 season
The changes come following three months of consultation between the counties and the ECB. Subsequently, the ECB made a recommendation to the government department that players from abroad should be eligible for a visa as long as they have played 10 first-class matches in a Full Member nation in the preceding 24 months.
Hopefully Mr North will enlighten members on October 20 on intended overseas recruitment.

So no change then???

Means if we want to sign an Aussie he will have to played 10 first class for his state.

So basically the same. Just means more useless overseas players can get a 6 week visa to work here taking the place of a young English Cricketer.

So we can employ 10 overseas players on a 6 week visa instead of English players on a 3 year contract. Ok then. Save the counties a few quid I guess on having to contracts the whole point I guess.

Yeah he bowled well for us.
I wouldn’t mind him back. He’s a bit like Potts imo, wasn’t as good when he came back from the SA white ball squad where he didn’t play much. He seems the type who likes to play every game and gets better & better the more he goes

Pardon me for being unexcited. In the last 10 years I can only think of two who had an impact. John Hastings and erm, the other one.

Build a team from our own resources, I say.
