I'm unsure why people on here keep comparing the Scottish league to our league systems. It doesn't help that the financial gap is growing as Celtic got a record £124m revenue last year which is less than the lowest PL club gets. Though Celtic's wage bill isn't as high either and even some of the players are on less than some plodders in the Premier League. Rangers got £88m but it's a canny gap and a lot less than a PL teams, probably nearer relegated PL teams in the Championship.

Celtic and Rangers aside, most of the clubs are getting League One revenues when you compare them.

Looking a bit more, even though this list isn't complete, it looks like some are getting less than some teams in League Two. I didn't realise how fucked up it is in Scotland now as how can other clubs compete in that league with League One/Two budgets to Celtic and Rangers?
The Highland Leagues about the same standard as women’s U8’s football.I'm unsure why people on here keep comparing the Scottish league to our league systems.
It's nothing like any of them geographically or financially. They have much more in common with smaller countries like Sweden, Austria, and Portugal.
Scottish games are well attended per capita, and Old Firm apart, clubs with strong links in their communities.
I go to a couple Morton games a year with in-laws, it's basic stuff but entertaining.
I'm up in Nairn on holiday and went to see a Highland League game yesterday, A great day out, only around 400 at the match. Didn't hear anyone worrying about League One.
There's something very suspicious about this. Kevin Thelwell (Rangers and ex Everton DoF) has bought Chermiti twice now, Sporting Lisbon -> Everton -> Rangers, all based on 'potential'. Hmmm9m on Chermiti. Jesus that's a risk. I know he's only 21 but he's barely scored a goal in his career.
3 goals in the Portuguese 3rd division
3 goals in the Portuguese top flight
1 goal for Everton U23s in the EFL trophy nonsense
That's it, in about 65 appearances.
You had to edit that? Jesus wept man, chronic bantzThe Highland Leagues about the same standard as women’s U8’s football.
It’s probably the only thing I agree with Alan Brazil about.

I get all that. I'm just saying there's no point comparing, because the Scottish League system is nothing like ours. They don't have a sellable TV market. It's like if we had a Yorkshire League, or a Midlands League.I'm not saying owt about how many people go to games or how passionate they are. All levels of football can be entertaining (including women's). I've said this many a time on here when people whinge about boring games on TV. Not all games of footy will be entertaining even in the Premier League/Champions League yet even Sunday League can be entertaining.
My post was aimed at the finances in Scottish football, therefore spending power for the players and quality of those players which will mean a poorer standard of opposition to play against. This can't be good for a team that's nearer lower PL level money if they aren't being 'tested' as often given most games are a guaranteed win playing no better than League One/Two standard opposition rather than top tier opposition.
Although they finally won the Champions League, is this why PSG failed so many years in Europe even with money as they didn't really have a 'competitive' league? Though given the recent Club World Cup and expansion of the Champions League then PSG are now playing more games against better opposition. They played 17 Champions League games last season and 7 in the Club World Cup so a lot more games against decent opposition.
Cracking beach at Nairn.I'm up in Nairn on holiday.
I don't think you get it as I'm comparing finances to show how little money there is even in the Scottish Premiership. Therefore the standard of player the other teams can attract will understandably be poor as they don't even have the spending power of teams in League One/Two and location won't help if trying to attract someone from down South just like us and the mags have an issue with.I get all that. It's a tiny country, if anything it is far more like the Portuguese League. People I meet at games in Scotland are as about interested in League One and English League finances as you are in Bundesliga 2. No offence.
I do get it, but I'll just leave it here. They genuinely don't give a shit about lower league English football or its finances.I don't think you get it as I'm comparing finances to show how little money there is even in the Scottish Premiership. A team like Celtic that doesn't really have decent opposition in the league could well struggle against other teams in Europe who have been in more 'competitive' league or have more financial spending power and higher standard of player.

How long have we spent behind the mags? Almost all of my lifetime supporting the lads. I just want to see Sunderland doing as best we can - those morons are completely infatuated. They would happily get relegated as long as Celtic were a place below.Tbf to the fans a distant second in a 2 horse race to your hated rivals is unacceptable. Imagine that being us to Newcastle!
Would love Hearts to do it. The Scottish title hasn't left Glasgow in 40 years.

What a load of sanctimonious bullshit![]()
If i was The Lone Ranger i would go for Tonto ! O.K.Kemosabe.If I was Rangers, I’d go for Steve Bruce.
Let’s be fair, it’s all true. But unicorns are pretty cool on paper too. No one who checks those boxes wants to manage Rangers - what they are looking for does not exist. You must be logged on to see media items

Don't Celtic fans see it the same way though?!How long have we spent behind the mags? Almost all of my lifetime supporting the lads. I just want to see Sunderland doing as best we can - those morons are completely infatuated. They would happily get relegated as long as Celtic were a place below.
Really worried if Hearts do make it. Straight out shoot out in this household for the Bairn, and can’t have him thinking Hearts are the club of glory.
I'm not sure you do as I'm saying the money isn't in the league to make to make it competitive to the level it needs to be for the likes of Celtic and Rangers to get anywhere in the Champions League, even the Europa League. The opposition only has the financial power of a League One/Two team which most know isn't great. I didn't realise the financial gap that massive in Scotland and therefore the gap of player value/quality.I do get it, but I'll just leave it here. They genuinely don't give a shit about lower league English football or its finances.
