Keel Crossing [opened 18.10.25] - compendium thread

Imagine making a statement like that with such confidence in it? It not even registering for a moment that it might be completely daft. Incredible, but not unique, unfortunately.
It’s a microcosmic view into why local Facebook groups are the pits. For every rational, sensible comment there’s 40 like hers.

Not sure you’ll have much of an effect in daylight like.

I remember seeing pics of the laser lights blasting skywards from the stadium that looked good but I heard they burned too much power so don’t get used much / at all.

Are they still installed? Do they ever get turned on?
Would be class to add to the effects if even just for the odd night match in the winter.
Well aye, not much point putting them on at 3pm

Would look brilliant during the winter months and night matches though. No idea if the ‘beams’ are still up there.

some of the comments man. guarantee they are all the 'sunderland corruption' 'vote Reform' types. thick as shit doesn't quite cover it, its like they purposely go out of their way to say the most negative, outrageous, paranoid bullshit they can think of. genuinely think some of these people need psychiatric help

''spending money on lighting bridges but people can't afford gas and electric''

''total waste of f***ing tax payers money brown envelopes in the back pockets once again just like the 12 million for the winter gardens what an absolute joke i will never vote for this shower again''

''just get it OPEN!!!''

''for 31 million it should sing and dance''

We have a high amount of tattie brains live in our city.
I’m all for a cull.

Latest news from some senior fellas on site today.

Handover to council?? Friday pm 17th Oct, then official opening miday Sat in time for the Wolves game.

As was said would be happening a few posts ago.

The steps down to the river walkways and that area will not be open until December or so.

Wonder how long it’ll take for the complaints about northsiders heading into town for pre match beers before 12, being forced to walk the long way round via the Wearmouth Bridge.

I was at Sheepfolds Stables yesterday and the small bridge and subway need plenty of work still, but with the rugby they just diverted people right to the start of the riverside path, so they can do the same again.

thats what they did for the aston villa match as well. the sheepfolds bit was open to walk through and looked really smart but then they closed the sides again after it.

There'll be hell on with usual suspects if it's gets rainbowed up for Pride.

Didn't Reform say they were going to pull funding, so doubt it would happen
Pride will survive on its own , it's mostly paid for by sponsors .

Only issue would be if the council wouldn't give the licenses for the event which is potentially possible.

Another reason to get out and make sure reform don't take control of our council in May

I worry it's too late.

But that's for another thread

Will be interesting to see what they chose to light it up for, and what they don't. As I imagine there'll be a small cost involved which will be used as a political football
I would think for take take it will be multi coloured giving the circus theme of the tour

I can't imagine it being a great difference to light it up normally and then light it with colour but I'm sure someone on SGM will find a way
