Greek Island Holiday Help

Yeah, like ants heading up the bank to see the sights. Loads of fat Jabbas using the poor donkeys to get up the cobble bank in Oia as well instead of using the funicular.

Fix, Alfa, Mythos are ok. Mamos is the preferred choice of the locals if you ask them. Personally, I love Eza. Hellenic pilsener. Lovely stuff. Hard to find though. Baroque de bistro in Argostoli and Sto Psito in Lassi have it.
First time I had it was Vrahos rooms in Kardamena. Superb drink.

Had eza in Matala few nights back ,draught . Had some nice cretan ones charma and cretan Kings. You can get dark versions of those two . Also Nymphi. Much better than mythos

I'm in Tsilivi it's pssing down, cannot remember who recommended it but in Esmes beer garden onto my second Pauliner wheatbeer making a nice change from the Mythos, great little resort will definitely be coming back when the weather is a bit better.

Me. The owner, lad with headband in behind the bar, went to uni in Sunderland, as did his brother who works at a restaurant round the corner on the main road, opposite Ark.

The missus said it was the best wine she's had while here, she's struggling with the local stuff but dry white wine is all she drinks.

Luckily mine isn't fussy, just ask for a dry white and it all tastes the same to her  , the craft beers in Esmes were a godsend for me.

We were staying at that end so Ark and Esmes were our two main places. Menir restaurant over the road to Esmes was very good for the price if you haven't tried it yet.

We've got places in mind for the next few holidays but will go back Tsilivi in 27 or 28

Where did you end up for the match ?

Get yourself to Freddies bar if the rain eases up
Beautiful sitting there looking out onto the sea

So we are looking at next year, definitely fancy Greek islands again.

Mrs Sidey fancies Kefalonia, any good?

Just don't look at the weather app 😬

Meant to be canny Monday Tuesday (our last two days)
I’m going to go against the grain and say I just don’t get the love for Kefalonia. Went last September and was really looking forward to it as I’d heard so many good things, but I was very underwhelmed.
We stayed in Lassi and it basically had one long road of restaurants and bars. It was ok but just felt a bit characterless. Had 2 beaches, one of which was covered in sun beds literally inches from each other, with a very basic and expensive beach bar.
Mind the weather didn’t help, most days were cloudy and wet.
Each to their own, but I’ve been to Corfu, Kos, Rhodes and Crete, and found them all nicer than Kefalonia

You stayed in the one place on Kefalonia where there is something resembling a ‘strip’. Away from Lassi, there are some cracking places on the island.

This.
Just spent a week there and it was stunning. Incredible views everywhere of the Ionian Sea. Need a car to get around and explore. Assos my personal fave. A beautiful little harbour village beach with crystal clear water. For me being able to swim freely across the harbour without worrying about what's in the water with you has been tremendous. :D

I too have heard that Kefalonia is the best Greek island but having to hire a car to make the most of it puts me off. The bus in Skiathos really helps make that place if you ask me.

Not quite the Greek Islands as we've moved from Kefalonia to Cyprus . Just went out for dinner on our last night and come home to the villa to find it broken into and all the bedrooms ransacked. Luckily all they've taken was any cash and jewellery they found. Left our passports thank God and missed my wallet which was tucked right into the toe of one of my shoes. Could of been worse and at least it's our last night not our first in this place. Sour note to finish on and some of the kids are upset. :(

Talking to a old Dutch couple last night here in Crete . They've did them all
They say they all have charm and are gorgeous but Crete has the truest Greek feel if that's what you're after . I'm biased but agree . We're in the quiet south east now and it's proper old school
