Ross Stewart

I noticed in one of the recent games that he was chasing down the keeper and nearly got a goal from it, I wonder if he wants to have a longer career whether he should be wiser with his running? Probably nonsense like but he can't be constantly pressing like he used to for us.

We were an excellent pressing side when Stewart and Pritchard were together for us. Stewart led it from the front and Pritchard was like his first lieutenant- a scampering rat. They never let any side settle.
 
Hindsight incoming.
Think who should also be investigated is the person who decided that he's fit to start three Championship games in a week after being out badly injured for so long.
I get the temptation to do that, having paid so much money for a good player with little to no return but that's a tough old league at the best of times and even more so for someone coming back to the first team after an absence like that. The thinking there in Saintsland feels a bit fuzzy, maybe even a bit desperate.
 
With a heavily loaded towards appearances led contract he may be a punt when his contract runs out. Even if it’s only for the hilarity on here and whinging on the south coast if we did manage to get a regular tune out of him. Mind this place wad be amazing if we didn’t! :lol:

The physical attributes that make him a good player - his height and pace - also seem to make him incapable of playing too much football. The fact that he's had a range of different injuries suggests that his game simply puts too much stress on his body.

There could be a career for him as an impact sub for a Championship club chasing promotion - maybe with a low-ish wage and massive goal bonus. He's the type of player that could be pivotal for a team in 3rd chasing 2nd, or even throughout the playoffs.

Hopefully it's not too bad a hammy. I was buzzing for him last week.
 
It’d sad to see tbh.

I seem to think he’s contract is up at the end of the season? If so, he is going to struggle to find a club
 
Really feel for the lad me.

Best striker in that division by a distance when fit, just absolutely no luck with injuries.

Got no hard feelings towards him, deal benefitted us and him. He got a contract that eclipsed what we were willing to offer, we got £10 million for a player we paid peanuts for and was in the final year of his contract.
 
I don't get the spite of some posters. Ross Stewart was a phenomenal servant of SAFC and iirc correctly was paid a relative pittance when he was on our books.
I'd have been more than pleased for him if after leaving us he had had a period of relative success. Instead his career has been injury blighted. Hope though that he is financially secure for life but a player that will look back on what could have been rather than what was.
