308* off 135 balls

Bit sad really where we are now when discussing cricket which this thread examples.

That a poster posts a thread about a bloke a young lad getting a triple century of 135 balls, which it’s fair to say must have been a canny knock;)

And nobody but the op actually gives him any credit or praise for it.

How did it come to this:D

Bit sad really that we can call England test cricketers “rubbish”, but we have to congratulate Australian grade cricketers
It’s seems a pattern nowadays whenever I
Read articles about good performances in red or white ball cricket about a player performing well in any format in any match.

The subsequent comments section don’t really discuss or praise the individual concerned in that particular match, it always seems to just fall into a debate about the rights or wrongs of that particular format.

Happens very regularly on the BBC website after a cricket match.

Think it’s more than fair to praise a triple century of that many balls not sure nationality any relevance

I’m sure we can all agree that it’s great hitting. Seems like he’s a proper talent playing several levels above. A bit like Harry Kane scoring 7 against a league 2 side.

Unfortunately we’ve hit “hitting” overload. It’s everywhere. It’s a bit sad.

I think an under 19 scoring a triple century of that many balls in a men’s game is still a great effort in anybody’s book.

Despite the agreeably increase in big hitting in recent times.

Anyway it was more of a general observation that in both red and white ball cricket good performances in a actual cricket match don’t get recognition or praise or discussed enough, it just seems to constantly be turned into the debates about what format the best all the time

It's an credible effort but is it good for the game?
It's another example of the imbalance between bat and ball. Increasingly, and there are signs of it already, there'll be a general reluctance for youngsters to develop bowling skills- conceding 10 an over and being hit for 4 or 6 as a norm is hardly an attractive proposition.
Real danger to the long term prospects of the game unless some balance is restored.
Wholly logical unless one has a short term myopic view on the current direction of the game.
The bowling malaise is overflowing into red ball cricket.

Obviously it's NOT considered worthy of comment by many. His name will go into the record books long term undoubtedly but that's about it.The particular match has become an exhibition not a contest. From that viewpoint not a lot to get excited about.
Hence the apparent indifference.

Now here's a treble century that had a whole nation entranced but was compiled over more than 2 days-how terribly boring :(
To put this into context, most NEPL players would struggle in Grade 1.
Indeed, and the likes of Paul Collingwood is convinced that playing in it was the making of him as a cricketer. Not so sure if this kid's innings will have done much to further his career. He was in,and stayed in, against what was clearly not challenging opposition.
Would imagine his ability had already been noted.
Can he do it on a greentop at Marsden, though?
Don't think it's likely he'll ever rock up there
I’m pretty sure Sydney Grade cricket is played with a red ball.
This was the Belvedere Cup -1Day competition.Probably white ball.
