Not yet but the game is over 2 weeks off so no hurryIs it? Not seen any confirmation of opening date.
It was announced a couple of months ago it was being closed.Even worse now the subway next to (the former) Bridge House is shut. That was handy for me when I'm on my bike. Think they'll close that for good like they did the one on the north side.
The new bridge or the western path on Wearmouth bridge?Be open for the Wolves game .
New Bridge mate. The new bridge or the western path on Wearmouth bridge?
Teleportation will replace it iircIs that all?![]()
New Bridge mate.
It's 7 working days. Presume that means it'll be open for Wolves otherwise they'd have said 9 days surely.Western footpath on the Wearmouth (Town) bridge closed completely from 13 October (didn't see how long for, I was concentrating on my driving) for repair/resurfacing work. Surely they're not going have that and the Keel footbridge closed simultaneously?

Fingers crossed the Keel Bridge is open anyway.
Yes but my point is they would surely just say '9 days'? Working days is needlessly complicated for a public path open 24/7, it's not a call centre open Monday-Friday. I'm guessing closed for 5 working days, open for the weekend then closed again for the following 2 working days. The sign just says 'closed from 13/10/25 for 7 working days'.7 working days means it'll be closed up til 22nd. Wolves game is the 18th.

Nearly £30k on a temporary surface for one day?!
The Councik keep smugly saying ‘it will be finished on budget and on time’ but won’t say what ‘on time’ specifically means.
The phrase also means nothing good if the timetable and budget aren’t challenging.

I just wonder whether the timetable has been too long. Ideally, the bridge would’ve had its grand opening before the RWC and the season started.Given the coverage we got that day and the amount of money the event brought into the city personally im not unhappy with that extra cost.
Bearing in mind we’d known about the RWC for several years and the bridge works were being commissioned in 2023 I would’ve thought it would have been completed in time for that game. How much did you think it would cost?
I’m sure I read somewhere a long time ago and worked out I’d be walking over it for the last league home game of last season! You must be logged on to see external links

The council have consistently refused to be specific about the timeline.I’m sure I read somewhere a long time ago and worked out I’d be walking over it for the last league home game of last season!
