Getting promoted - do we actually want it?

Watching the Premier highlights and seeing Ipswich put up no fight against the Mags, I’m not sure how we go from getting turned over by Oxford and Blackburn to competing with established Premier League teams in a couple of months.

This team has some talent but it is miles off being able to compete in the PL. I honestly wouldn’t mind another season in this league and letting the young players develop and hopefully continue to improve.

I’m not sure I would enjoy a season of getting battered like Leicester, Ipswich and Southampton have had. Maybe these last few weeks are just sucking the life/positivity out of me.
He wasn't far off, but he couldn't predict KLD will buy 10 new absolute class players after promotion. 😂

If we go up: Yesssss! That's where we belong! We can do it! Let's show them! etc...
If we stay down: Hate VAR! It''s just moneyball! Never wanted to go up anyway!
Oh, thank God! Was dreading to look that one up.
We can do it! I believe RLB has a game plan to outsmart opponents like Sheffield United, Bristol City, or Coventry, who might think they can beat us using similar tactics from past games. However, I'm confident RLB isn't foolish and has advised the players to take it easy to avoid any more injuries. When the playoffs start, we'll be ready with increased intensity. I'm sure of that.
Lottery numbers perchance? ;)

To be fair this was posted after or during the time where we were tossing games away and whilst we were guaranteed the playoffs, things weren't looking good. I remember coming out of that QPR game thinking 'what a load of shit ' and 'not going to Coventry waste of time, then it was 'yous coming to cov' and the rest is history 🤣.

It was at the same time people were calling for RLB to be sacked to be fair. As funny as it is, it was justified at the time

It's a worry what will happen if we don't. A lot of this squad will leave either from Loan moves back to their clubs or some big offers in for the young talents we have. We then have to compete with he 3 relegated teams while we all moan it's hard to compete against them due to their parachute payments.

That would be us even IF we did get relegated so I think it's crackers for anyone to even contemplate not wanting to go up. Add in the feeling of euphoria if we won the semis and then had a weekend in London again and a chance to take the roof off if we won the final, as it would top the Wycombe game by a fair margin with what it means to the club and we finally get to reach back where we were before a fair few years of shite we have endured since
Got this weeks Lotto numbers mate.
In all fairness, I can see fans concerns about getting beaten every week and going through the motions to relegation.
My biggest hope at the time was get promoted, then take the next step up in yo-yo parachute payments. I will never understand anyone who doesn’t want promotion because of the money it pumps into the club.
Nobody on here would have predicted buying a whole team of class players.

I was going to say we should be able to beat some lower half teams but on review the teams currently would be Man Utd, Tottenham, Everton and West Ham plus Leeds and Burnley.

So it will be tough unless we spend, spend, spend 😱

My post from the 28th April.... Sort of optimistic, so far, one win, one loss from the 6 teams I suggested we could beat 🫣

A bit prophetic with the "spend, spend, spend" ..... We spent wisely 👏

I think if there had been indication that KLD was planning on buying a new team of Premier league quality players this thread would have been different.

But at the time there was more evidence of everything being done on a cheaper scale. We werent exactly lashing money about in the championship or league 1, noting at one point we didn't even have a striker for what seemed like eternity and Tony Mowbray got thrown under a bus in his final transfer window quality wise.

So to be a bit concerned about the last 9 clubs going down meekly and our ability to buck that trend was natural.
