Ashes Squad 2025

Exactly, you're not going to change people, just accept it.
Posting on here is intended to be friendly discussion -with amicable differences in view.
Would be nice if that happened, but too many times the criticism goes too far, I don’t like some of the insults thrown at times towards the players, and can be over the top.

Live with it,posters have different views,is it reasonable to expect them to have to concur with your views?
It’s not about concurring with my views.

Me personally when support my country I am quite defensive of the players I support, encourage them and stick up for them.

I don’t see the need to go over the top and insult and have a go at them, when posters do that I tend to respond

Yeh,OK.People are entitled to have an outlook different to yours. Can you not accept that?
Yet you claim the right to insult them?😀

Loads of positivity here

It's usually after day 1 of the 1st test we realise it will be 4-0
If Duckett, Root and Brooks have good series, and if the fast bowling attack is fit enough that we can field 3 front line seamers in all 5 tests, and if Stokes is fit enough to play through, amd if Bash is up to the job, then we're in this.

If not, then errrrrrrrr.......

The complete disregard for the CC is coming back to bite us on the arse, big time. We simply have no idea if Bethell can play if one of the batters goes down, and the selection of Jacks is a joke.

Nobody to blame but the ECB.

Close series. Why, because the Aussies are now so old and they can’t possibly maintain a squad that plays all 5 games.

As for England. Complete unknown. At our best and staying for we can compete.

I still can’t believe I was there when we last won a test in Australia at Sydney in January 2011!!

I think it is largely the right squad but I don't agree with Jacks and Bethell being picked. Red ball cricket is a completely different game.

Bashir isn't good enough and there are better spinners.

Wood also seems like a big gamble. He hasn't played a competitive game since February.

Yeah I agree a lot of "ifs".But as usual if we get tonked in the 1st test the series is done.

Everyone is spot on about the aussie batting lineup, but ours isn't that good and they have a better bowling attack.

A half fit Cummins for the 1st test could help.

All eyes on the Shield games.

There seems to be a lot of focus on the bowling/all rounder.

I don't know how Hameed doesn't even appear to be in the conversation, in place of Crawley?

It was always going to be Crawley and Duckett and justifiably so but certainly there's a strong argument for a reserve specialist opener and Hameed would have a strong case. I 've seen the absurd argument on here because they've been discarded in the past they shouldn't be considered. Young batsmen do improve- there are numerous examples in the past of discarded players coming good.

I am a bit surprised to see Potts there. He has the attributes, pace, action and a robust frame, except he's very out of form and has been for a while. I wish he'd played more County Cricket which I reckon would have help him rediscover whatever it was that he' seems to have lost. But, good luck to him.

The only justification for Crawley being a dead cert is because of their refusal to look at anyone else despite his form being no near worthy of him keeping his place.

Wood is a gamble they have to take imo but Jacks, Bethel and Bashir aren't good picks at all

I can see the argument for Crawley in hard Aussie wickets where there's minimum seam movement with he and Duckett such contrasting styles -must be a nightmare for bowlers having to constantly adjust. However, certainly should have included another opener as a plan B.
